I priced them yesterday. 410.00 they are proud of them. Ran a 705 to finish off the front and gonna end up with about 7000 miles on it. I may stick with shinko. 201.00 for the set.

OUCH !
My local shop got me a set for 342...
Will be here tomorrow I think...

I am looking forward to hearing what news you can report about these tires. I have about worn out my OE tires and would like something a little more aggressive.

A very good friend and very competent rider has embarked on the Colorado Back Country Discovery Route after spooning these on.

He has just reported back that he is thrilled with the off road prowess of the tire. He states that they are very confidence inspiring, sure footed, and offer high grip in loose, rocky terrain. More to follow in sloppy terrain and hoping for a good mileage assessment after his return but he is loving them so far.

Ok, put the wheels back on the bike.
I couldn't go on a "real" ride yet.. Just some around town and quick highway speed stuff....
Initial report, they feel ROUND compared to my old stockers that were flat.
Very neutral.
TC light flashed once leaving a light very spiritedly, however they were new and most likely mold release on them still... Werent' scrubbed in yet.
They look amazing on the bike. I'll post pics when I get off shift in 72 hours.
They do have a sound to them, but it's not bad. Not annoying.
No off road yet.. I'll try to get some in Friday when I get off work on some dirt road.

Sorry no pics...
Will report back Friday or Sat.

Can't wait to hear what you think. I am interested in both the off road and on road performance. I do quite a bit of both, just hate the feeling of the stock EXPs on mud...its like riding on ice.

I've got 2 sets of them and neither have been mounted yet. Logistics issue.

Left the bike in Albuquerque and came home to work a few days. So the set I have here will definitely have to wait.

But next week I will hop back on the bike and finish off the Big Block I was using in Colorado. (I LOVE this tire. Wish any tire grabbed like it but lasted)

Then I'm mounting the set of Karoos I have in Montrose Co. Really looking forward to it. Got a lot of miles to crunch 2-up on various surfaces. Should get a good feel for them.

Well ran a little dirt/sand road this morning and they were night and day compared with what was stock on the bike. I could actually turn on the dirt and not slide. I'll try for more later and try for some GoPro footage.

I've put a few more miles on the k3s. This am I did about 120 miles on the turnpike and then hit a few miles of dirt road, grass, sand and a little mud. On the road you can definitely feel the tire. There is a slight howl and it feels like you have meaty tires. At slow speeds it also feels a bit lumpy. The bike maintains stability well over 80 which is all I need on this bike. Handling on the slab also feels good but different. The on ramps and off ramps can be taken at speed but its not as fluid as an 80/20 or 90/10.

Now, in the dirt the compromise you feel on the street rewards you with stability and traction where previously you feared an imminent face plant. On a pig like this I've a new appreciation for aggressive tires. ::015::

Ordered a new set of 705s yesterday. 132.00 dollars for front and rear. Going to pull the wheels Thursday and swap them out. At that price difference and the fact I got 7000 miles on a rear. Just seems to be a good tire at a great price

Mounted and ridden about 40 miles in the rain. Laying in a tent looking at them. :)
Torture.

My only comment so far is the brand new Karoo front was already singing the "worn K60" song. But at less volume.

Felt very smooth compared to what the eyes see.
And while I didn't do anything crazy on fresh tires in the rain, I still had to do the speed limits through the sweet mountain roads around here.

Felt nothing skittish about them.

I really like the look of that tire. It looks like it would move the water and clean out well. When it dries out let us know how they tip into a curve compared to the K60s. Will you run this set to Canada and back?

Canada got canceled. So we are just playing in the mountains.
Might be heading for Beartooth pass area next. But now the trip has truck support mixed in. So not all the miles will be put on these new shoes. At least not the homebound New Mexico-West Texas heat leg.

No longer concerned about the "unknown lifespan".

I look forward to your report on the tires as the miles add up. I am also curious of your opinion on these tires vs the K60 both on road and off.

I hope I can oblige.

For me, the K60 IS the tire to beat. And I do NOT mean in longevity. I have long crowned it the King in that category.

I am simply in pursuit of the tire that can actually outperform the K60 off-road, but still last 4000 miles safely.

Haven't found one yet.
