Hi,
Just back from a tour of the Highlands where my bike came to grief falling over during a gale in a petrol station. What I wanted to share with you is the damage caused to the bike which could guide others in the future. The bike was fitted with two Kappa KGR33 side cases and a Kappa KGR52 top box. I believe the one side case saved the bike from rear damage. The bike also has the Yamaha front crash bars with attached driving lamps. So the damage sustained was:
1. Cracked KGR33 side case
2. Grazed cowling panel
3. Slightly marked mirror
4. Slightly marked hand guard
5. Grazed crash bars
6. Slightly bent driving lamp bracket.
7. Slightly marked indicator.

Sorry to see the fresh scratches mate. I fell over in the dirt the first few times, so a lot fewer marks and no damage. Crash bars with upper side protection help avoid fairing damage.

No worries this time, but if you go over on the left, remember to check the fan right away in case it's jammed against the radiator. Easy to have happen, and it will burn up the fan motor quickly if it can't rotate. This has happened to several riders and w/o significant damage to the radiator itself. Worth pulling the panel to check fan rotation if you have a left side spill.

Crikey! Blown over onto the right side! I wonder how fast the wind would have to blow to do that!

::026:: He did say gale, but damn!! That is the definition of weather not fit for man nor beast....or a darling Tenere.

Interesting. I've dropped my S10 with TRK33N side cases off-road in rocks and was surprised at how little damage the case took aside from some scuffs. Same case with some taped on brushed aluminum panels, but I'm using the Altrider crash bars, which may have been the difference. Must have been a stiff wind!
