...a new bike. :)

I have had the itch for something more sporty as I have been riding a heavy touring bike for the last two seasons. It is the ultimate in luxury on long trips but is missing the fun factor in regular use. A few of my friends have gone to adventure bikes and I have liked them ever since the first big singles came out years ago. I thought about getting something like an FJR but I am not comfortable on a crotch rocket type seating position. The hazards of getting older.
Anyways to make a long story short I found a dealer 250 miles away that still had two brand new 2016 models on the floor deeply discounted, a black one and the yellow anniversary one. I drove down a couple days ago and made a deal on the black one. BTW I am not sure if the US models come with the factory panniers or not but up here they do. They are not on in the picture as they took them off to give me more room to move around the bike. They are parked pretty close together. The panniers are the same as the ones on the yellow one in the background. My out the door price with freight, taxes, etc came to $15,800 which would be about 12.5k in US dollars. I have ordered the Puig touring shield, Yamaha side defectors, front fender extender, right side body panel (behind shock adj), and the OEM aluminum skid plate. Yes I am aware of the off road problems with the Yamaha skid plate but that is not an issue for me. The worst this bike will see is the odd gravel road. As much as I would like to my back is too bad to get back into any off road riding.

This is my touring bike. It's a rather porky 960 lbs. if the S10 turns out to be as nice as I hope it to be I will probably end up selling this next year. I don't want to be too quick selling it as it truly is a dream on a long trip. I did a 5,000 mile trip covering 10 states and 3 provinces in 11 days.

Welcome and enjoy your new ride. I think you'll find out that your S10 does a great job of touring too.

Greg I got it in Fort Sask. They have a leftover anniversary yellow one too.
man...if I didn't like my current tenere this much, I'd jump on that.
I'll be selling up the blue donkey January 2019. At that point it would be 7 or so years of ownership, and hopefully the magic 100k mark.
I may go for something with chain drive (gasp!), and Austrian (double gasp!)

Enjoy the bike.

it's a great bike. You'll like it.

No worries. I haven't put pen to paper in a while...I mean fingers to keyboard. Enjoy the bike. It's most excellent.

I installed my accessories last night. Pulled the panniers off this morning and put them away for now. I had a tail bag from another bike I sold so I put that on with my rain suit and some other stuff in it.

check you swing arm plug. Right hand side (brake side inside the swing arm) is a rubber plug about 2.5" long, and 1" tall.
It's just there...and has a tendency to bit it's way to freedom.
