When removing my ground anchor chain I noticed a tiny bit of green wire sticking out ... so i popped the bike on the centre stand and extracted it by spinning the wheel backwards.

Safe to say I was surprised how much came out!

Spinning the rear wheel before / after removal offered the same resistance, and the wire insulation wasn't ripped to shreds ... so I guess it wasn't binding tightly.

From the parts fiche - is it fair to be concerned about damage to oil seals? I've left a bit of card beneath to see if anything escapes.

Just look when it's been parked. If the seal is damaged you'll know right away.
