Sooo, I got into the beer this evening... and decided to punt my vstrom out the door.

Figured, I would have some fun with the ad, I saved it on the blog, just in case it gets pulled for making fun of vette and prius owners,

moar here: http://thetenerist.wordpress.com/2013/09/25/for-sale-ad-2008-suzuki-v-strom-650-mad-max-edition/

Update: I pulled the link from my blog. But I did save the write up below:

2008 DL 650 V-STROM.
Well, I had a good time with this beast. If you're looking for an entry level adventure bike might want to look elsewhere (that said, I can set up the suspension back to stock, so the eager beginner wife can have a go, and ride to Jaseper).

The disclaimer out of the way...this thing flat out rocks. Great pick up (dual spark cylinders, with shiny new plugs), goes like a stabbed rat on gravel, and tail gates posers in vettes on the highway. Oh yeah, it will keep up to gixxers too, if the need arises, but the minute the road turns to gravel, they whimper home, and go cry to their mommies, while you soldier on into the unknown. Go on! YOU CAN DO IT!

This thing is all black, and badass. I removed the weedy 650 front end, and put in some manly DL1000 forks, with fresh oil, and a longer spacer for higher ground clearance.

Don't let the mileage scare you. The original owner had it for 60 thousand awesome kilometers and took great care of it.
When I got my hands on it, I went through everything, here's the list

Valves, checked, and perfect
New fluids all around (oil, coolant, brakes, fork oil, and brand new fork seals, with gaiters, brand new roller bearings)
Brand new Mitas 50/50 tires. Great wear, amazing off road, or for riding through the zombie apocalypse
All protective bits are on: Skid plate, crash bars, givi racks, IMS big toothed off road pegs, Suzuki center stand, aluminum hand guards, high bar, LED driving lights
Custom Yoshimura pipe, with baffle. Scare the prius drivers, or put the baffle in, and ride to sunday church
1" rear raising links (stockers included)
2" peg lowering kits (stockers included)
LED spot lights (Denali D2's)
Givi bags that have been through hell and back, and still keep out the water, and keep your ginch dry
There's probably more stuff that I'm forgetting, if you got questions, ask.
Bike is fully saftied, insured, and plated, ready to go. Buy it this winter, fit the bags, put some gas in it, and ride down to South America
This thing is tougher than a Montreal kakroach, and could survive a nuclear blast.
Seriously, if you're looking at a girly KLR, or on of those overpriced Bavarian scooters, drop me a line.
If you're interested in the best bang for the buck gravel blaster/tourer, you know what to do.
Reason for selling...not enough room for this beast and the bat cycle in the cave. Had to sell the bat mobile due to horrendous gas mileage.

Price is $4500 OBO. Muppets with low ball offers will be laughed and pointed at.

Great ad.

As far as being made fun of: if you drive/ride a statement vehicle (and both 'Vettes and Prius are driven primarily to make statements) then you should be tough enough to take whatever comes your way.... ::018::

My take is if you're intent is present yourself as a cartoon character, then you shouldn't complain.... ::)

just sayin' 8)

I put it up for shits and giggles.

people are either too descriptive, or not descriptive enough in ads...
so I went to the far end of the scale, and then fell off.

that said, i'm pulling the link to the blog, as I have had some bad feedback.
my blog is meant to be a enjoyable past time to share my findings, and fixes with other,

some douche bag out of Raleigh NC, guessing off advrider, he was man enough to leave me a message, fake email, but I looked up his IP address, and promptly banned him.

I took a screen shot of his message, and his reply, it's framable.
I pulled my post, and his reply off the blog.
