I just added the Odyssey II boxes to my bike.....very happy in general with installation and fit. I have the so called "big effing" 11" babies and they are a load. I want to add the tie down loops and cant decide where to add the things do to the slant on the outsides of the cases. Other brands vary in their approach locating the loops off the top table to the outside of the case and then some have them directly on the top surface. Anyone else out there added these things on their box?
At this point I am thinking the inside loops (closest to the seat) to mount them directly on top and the outside loops over the lip to get a greater tie down surface.....
I don't see any pics on the Jesse site.

Thanks for the read and comment

I mounted the jesse boxes on my bike and love them. Solid, no leaks and the front to rear adjustment is great. ::008::
I bought tie downs that are actually for use on boats or kayaks and mounted them on the slope of the cases close to the top.
Works great and adds lots of versatility on the top is still clear.
Enjoy the boxes and the ride

I added my loops to the top just because I thought maybe there would be some torque on them if they were mounted on the sides and some weight strapped to them. May or may not be the case!

Although mine are Happy Trails, the loops are mounted on the 4 corners of the flat top.
Absolutely perfect for tying down a sleeping bag on each. And the lids still open fine with the bags strapped. Make perfect armrest for the missus. And the Large Motofizz tail bag as her backrest.
Kind of an ADV version of a Goldwing pillion perch. :)
She has spent a few 1000 miles back there singing like a bird.

Love the loops on the jesses, had them on for over two years now with no problems.

I see I am not the first to ask such a thing.....sorry not to search the topic better.....With the help of my wife's rear end....."we" have decided to go with a top mounting on the inside or seat side.....the outer ones are still open for discussion pending some trial loading. I would rather locate them on the sides but the "Mrs." legs might rub and that's a "NO GO".
Gotta love this woman ....road for 3 hours today on forest road in the rain....skunked her back with mud and grit and she still insists she is riding to Deadhorse with me. That is another thread.

If you look closely, you can see the loops, I think they're called "footman" loops. The blue duffel bags are strapped to the Jesse boxes by way of these loops, 4 on each lid.

The duffels are L.L.Bean models that were the best fit I could find and quality bags too. They have carrying handles "front" and "back". I made up some attaching straps with Tyvex buckles - one per loop (that's 8 total) that are semi-permanently attached, I could unthread the buckles but I don't.

The duffels hold secure even though they wiggle around a bit. You can open the pannier lids with the bags strapped on, full or empty, doesn't matter. After the first use, I added strips of rubber foot tread to the lid tops to help keep the bags from sliding around. It helps a little with the sliding but also protects some scuffing from the bag/lid contact.

Of course I always pack heaviest items on the bottom, lightest on top. The big orange bag on the tail looks heavy but it's only about 15 lbs. - tent, 2 sleeping bags, 3 or 4 pillows.

That's what a Tenere heading out is supposed to look like. Nice rig.
