Does anyone have the Jesse "Rear Compartment" rear rack? Looking for information; Does it open in the back? Do you like it? etc......

I have Jesse Bags and a Jesse Top Case. I do not understand what you mean by rear compartment. Maybe I have missed some new development by Jesse; I've had six sets. Please expand....

EDIT: Okay, I got off my lazy butt and looked on the Jesse site. I now know what you mean and I have not ever used the compartment.

I have the rear compartment and really like it. There is a top plate that covers the opening. It holds about 6 litres of stuff. I keep my air pump, tire repair kit and other stuff I like to have with me whenever I leave the garage. I have made two extra top plates for it so I can use it to hold a Rotopax gas can, or use my Giant Loop Great Basin saddlebags or just have a large rear rack. If I can figure out how to attach photos I will send a few. Cheers, David

Rear Compartment
Steel construction with multiple compound angles for added strength. Keyed to match all of your Jesse Luggage components. With the rear compartment on, your bike is now ready for the Jesse Luggage Locking Plate and increased versatility.
We recommend you fill this space with the little used items, spare tubes, special tools, chain lube, chain breaker with links, oil filter wrench… You get the idea. All the dirty stuff!!

It replaces the rear rack; placing the compartment rack in the standard position there seems to be storage below the top plate with a door that opens toward the back of the bike, lock matches the luggage locks.

I just went on the Jesse site and I see that they have re-named the compartment I have as the mid-compartment and added a new "rear" compartment. I have no experience with the rear compartment that Jesse currently offers. Sorry for any confusion. David

Almost exactly my thoughts and use. I did a quick post on this last year with photos. One of my favorite and most useful mods to the bike. I always prefer to avoid using a tank bag if given a choice.
