Jerky throttle response 3-4k rpm

Hey everyone. My only significant gripe about the S10 so far is the very "digital" throttle response between 3-4k rpm, especially in lower gears. Even when I'm in T-mode and being very smooth with my throttle hand, I find the throttle response to be very abrupt in the 3-4k rpm range. I think part of the issue is that I'm used to riding my 1st gen FZ1, which has near perfect carburetion (thanks to a jet kit) and less engine braking than this big twin. But I rode an R1200GS a few months ago and its fuelling seemed much smoother.

I've seen the threads about the air screw adjustment and CO adjustment and I'm wondering if those adjustments do anything to smooth throttle response? Or would a power commander and new map be the true fix?
