Hello to all. A future Super10 owner here. I have located a 2012 with 16,000 on the clock. The owner is asking $6800 and says he has changed the oil every 3K. No luggage on bike and no engine guards. Is his price reasonable or could some of you suggest an offer? Any suggestions to a person who has not ridden adventure bikes would be greatly appreciated especially things to look for or notice on a test ride scheduled for this Saturday am.

Thanks in advance.

Last year I paid 5800 for a '12 w/ givi bars, oxford heated grips, factory panniers and a nice rank bag. My bike had a couple super minor scratches and a small dent on the tank. Same mileage.

Craigslist is your friend and winter is coming. Dont underestimate the future costs of farkles.

You should definitely be able to haggle that down, or do some more shopping. You can find a better deal on a Gen 1.

I see you are from TX. If that is the 2012 that is listed on Craigslist in Helotes, it’s been on there for a couple months at least. He should be willing to negotiate. But I think you can find a better equipped Gen 1 for the money, or step up to a Gen 2. I bought my wife a 2014 with 4700 miles on it, y’all windshield, and OEM engine guards for $7800...and that was at a dealer.

I don't think so. Second gens have been out for almost 5 years now, so they're starting to hit the used market at pretty reasonable prices. This is driving the price of 1st gens down pretty good.

A bike is only worth as much as the buyer is willing to pay. Haggle and remember that cash is king.
If you think BMW dealerships make cash$$$$ disappear you have never owned a Ducati. I had to sell a perfectly good R90/6 to get my Paul Smart out of the dealers service bay. They gave me a break on the labor though, coupon for half off on labor. the bill was still $2250.00

You no what was great about that 90/6, you could show the sportbike crowd a tire in the twisties. There is nothing more priceless than pulling up to a stop sign after the twisties next to the squids, and seeing the look on their faces after they realize they just got smoked by an old man on a 40 year old beemer with full camping luggage and a dog in the tankbag!

you might check the NADA guides on values as a place to start... sounds as if the bike has been used sparingly , my 12 has 30 k miles and I ride almost everyday ( I have a short commute to work ) . what ever tenere you buy you will enjoy the bike . welcome.

Yup. It's not a 40 year old Beemer, but the Tenere will embarrass a lot of sportbikes. They'll pull up and ask "what is it?" and/or "how is that so fast!?"

My opinion it’s priced to high. Is luggage and engine Guards important to you ? If those things aren’t important to you then it’s not really a lot to much money but if you plan on adding that stuff later it will add a lot to the price. I like my 13 with all the luggage and crash guards but I will most likely never buy another motorcycle without cruise control, 14 and up comes standard will cruise control.

It seems like a good price to me. I don't want any add ons, so the closer to stock the better. State Farm paid me off $11,000 for my totalled 2012 that was 100% stock back a year and half ago with 30,000 miles. If I had to sell it, and value was $6,000, I would have never considered selling.

Seems a tad on the high side for a non-farkled Gen 1 S10.
Check the tires for their date code, older tires are always a good catalyst for asking price reductions.
Hang tight and play the game, it took me some time to find my S10 ('13) but when I found it
I feel my time searching was well spent.

I had a Gen 1 for 5 years and picked up a Gen II when I sold my Africa Twin. A used G2 is worth the extra money reckon if your bike fund allows.
