Is there any physical size difference between the Gen 1 and Gen 2?

Owned and 2013 Gen 1 2013 about 18 months ago and I'm not exactly sure why but my son just bought a Gen 2 2015 and it seems as though the seat height is shorter than the 2013? Is this possible or maybe could the bike have been lowered somehow? I'm 6'4 and don't want the bike to be any shorter than it already is. So my next question is can they also be raised higher? Thanks..

A Gen 2 ES model on the single rider setting is about 1" shorter than a Gen 1 bike. Set it to two rider and it is exactly the same. That threw me when I first got my Gen 2 bike.

2 seat heights on both bikes.
Yes I do remember that the seat height is adjustable. That's the first thing I did on the Tenere when I got mine. Then added a seat concepts and got even more height.

The ES spring is pretty soft. Compared to a non-ES or gen 1, there's more sag when just sitting on it. Needs a stiffer spring or higher preload setting.

Does the es also return all the valving to some sort of full-open setting when the bike shuts off as well? I've been wondering if that's why it seems so squishy and impossible to park on even a slight incline.

I can't tell any difference in height between them, and parking the gen1 vs gen2, they both sit the same and lean the same.

So has anyone installed raising links to an ES? If so what were your thoughts and how does it ride? I'm 6'4 and 250lbs and worried the ES suspension on the bike I'm getting might not be ideal for a guy my size?

I think a stiffer rear spring might be a better solution.

When I first got mine, that lean had me concerned. Not anymore. But it is a substantial lean, especially when compared to other bikes.

I'm pretty sure the 2nd Gen bike is bigger cause it has to hold the larger

The kickstand is a bit hard to get the hang of on the both bikes ES and Standard. My feeling is that when I have my ES up on High Load or 2up the angle changes due to the height of the bike. I ride mine most of the time on 1 rider and luggage. I bought a custom adjustable stand and set it just a pinch lower to get more lean angle when down low.

Do you remember what stand you used? I've thought of changing my 2014 to get it a little less lean to allow me to mount easier stepping on the pegs.

Face palm! ::) It never even occurred to me that the preload would effect the lean. Since I have so much lead in my ass, mine stays on "two riders". Everybody is always asking me why it leans so much on the side stand. Now I know. But, it doesn't bother me, and I like my kickstand.

This is the link and yes it's very costly...I felt I had to do something. I was off on everywhere I tried to stop. It's better but not perfect but I wanted more lean and you want less I believe. I just know someone is going to say...more or less. I only put in at one setting I should maybe try again with getting just what I need. But when you think about motorcycles and putting them on the side stand it really always been an issue some more than others more or less O:)

Maybe there is a low seat on the bike. I believe that a low seat will lower the seathight about 25mm (1 inch). and still 2 hight pos. both of course both 25mm lower than with a standard seat ;)
