i am looking at upgrading my exhaust can on my gen 1 and I see an aftermarket pipe for sale near me but it is for a gen 2. it shouldn't have changed much right?
i checked the parts diagram for the gasket that fits between the can and the headers and its the same part number between gen 1 & 2. im pretty sure the parts will fit perfectly.the headers on my gen1 has a joining piece between the 2 pipes at the front i don,t think that joining piece is in the front of the 2 header pipes on a gen 2 bike but mufflers do have same number so must be the same

yesCan i fit an used 2014 full after market exhaust
To a 2013?
Thank you
That news from Yamaha is good to hear, because I added Arrow headers to my 2013 and the Arrow has no balance pipe. This also eliminated the cat, and the bike (imagination or not) seems a bit peppier now. Next step is the ECU flash. Running the stock end can and even it sounds a bit better and mellower hooked onto the Arrow header.I can confirm that the Gen 2 bikes did not have the balance pipe in the header pipes, in fact, IIRC, Yamaha said that losing the balance pipe contributed to a couple of extra bhp on the Gen 2 bikes.

Mine feels smoother and it revs more freely with the full system. Am going to get it set up again on a Dyno though. That news from Yamaha is good to hear, because I added Arrow headers to my 2013 and the Arrow has no balance pipe. This makes sense to me. When I replaced the cat, and went to Turbo Muffler on my 4.0L Jeep, I could feel a marked difference in throttle/engine response. Not sure if was making more power or just got to the powerband faster. But, yeah, definitely revved quicker/easier.Mine feels smoother and it revs more freely with the full system. . . .
