Is it wise to remove Akrapovic for Leo Vince?

Hi Guys!

I bought my bike used and it came with the Akrapovic Slip-on (the europe version where you cannot remove the baffle for some extra sound level) So I cannot make any assumptions on how this exhaust improved my bike compared to stock since I never rode the stock one...

The problem for me is even tough Akra is great on quality and sound level for long distance tourings etc... Whenever I want to get mad a little bit, the sound level remains too low. A friend of mine who also has a Super Tenere ordered Leo Vince, I'm waiting now to hear his without the baffle. I'm thinking that considering Leo being a freeflow exhaust and adding to that the ability to remove and insert a baffle, that may very well be the right solution for me? ::) Sound level wise of course... Remove the baffle when nobodies around, go crazy, and put the baffle back on in city and whenever with the wife!

So what are the opinions?

If I sell the Akra, I can buy the brand new Leo directly without any extra money from my pocket...

But there are few questions that are confusing me:

1- My bike will soon be equipped with Two Brothers JuiceBox and a K&N Air Filter with the apropriate mapping. Performance wise, will I loose anything if I switch to Leo over Akra?

2- Are there really big differences in terms of built quality and performance improvements between Akrapovic and Leo? Am I about to make a stupid mistake?

Thanks for all the valuable inputs! O:)

I don't think you will gain anything but more sound, the Akara is a great slip on. The Leo is good but louder with the baffle and a lot louder with out. I would hold off on the Juice box and get a Gen II flash of the ecu.

Ok but which brand or which companies distributor are they? They don't seem like a reseller of Ecunleashed that all the users chosed in this forum? And what mapping are they using?

and what will be the advantages of having this system instead of PowerCommander or JuiceBox?

One of the reasons I went with my Leo Vince is the adjustable sound level. It comes with a long DB killer, and a short one. And you can remove them all together. I normally have the short one in and its perfect. It mildly barks an ear pleasing tune but is almost as quiet as stock just cruising around. Opened up she really gets angry >:D

Not sure I would sell an expensive Akra for it, but I sure do like my LV.

No. Why trade a Porsche for a Honda? Don't mess with success in this case IMHO.

If you decided to sell the Ako, let me know what you would charge for it. I love the Porsche idea ::025::

Hi Mzee i don't know where you live but i bet the shipping cost from Turkey would be a fortune... but pm me anyway, i'll look up for it and let you know...

But again, based on my past experience, it will not be feasable for both of us..

The sound of Leovince is the best (with and without db-killer), but the Akra is aesthetically and qualitatively better for our bikes.
This is my humble opinion

What I need to know in order to decide is...

I don't care much about the aesthetic part because I also like the look of LEO but I need elaboration for the qualitative part! ;D

- does my bike will perform better with Akra than leo??
- does Leo will detoriate faster than Akra??

if the qualitative goodness mentioned above is not noticable while riding, or in time... than I don't care... I'll make the swap.. ::26::

I think "offtheroad" specialize in Yamaha. I´ve bought some smaller things (like tankbag etc) from them before and they were easy to comunicate with (by mail) and fast. (even when changing something once) I´d have no problem sending them my box for the change if I hadn´t done it allready ::26::

emreturkeli, I think there isn't much different about quality.

If you do it for the sound and for the sake of change exhaust: ok! ::008::

But if you do it to get better, the only thing you can consider is the weight. The exhaust Leovince is lighter and less warm than Akra exhaust.

Before the Akra I had the Arrow (very similar than Leovince) but the sound in the highway is very annoying. Now I have the Akra and I'm very happy, although I miss the bangs ::26::

Isn't the baffle is made for these kind of highway rides? Was it disturbing even with the baffle? ::)

I wish I could have ecu reflash, but there aren't any tuning shops here in Turkey or anywhere near that can provide me the flash... :'(
I sent my ECU from Japan to Texas to have AF1 do the reflash. Extremely happy with their service and the results.

As far as the exhaust goes, I really like Akra quality and wear earplugs with mine. Blocks out the annoying sounds, leaving a nice engine tone to enjoy...
