Is it just me

Maybe its me but I reckon my 2014 S10 has developed a 'top end' rattle, which is more noticeable when coming off the power,

It was more obvious today when the noise was reflecting off a roadside wall

I've read about CCT ( but not so much on 2014 bikes) and wonder if that could be the issue....if it is , is it an easy dealer fix....any thoughts

Luckily as it is under warranty you can go to the dealer for advice rather than get a 100 different diagnosis from us lot ::008::

See if you can get them to do a receipt or written report on their findings, especially if they say it is nothing, that way if it is a problem developing and it goes after the warranty expires you can prove you reported the fault during the warranty period ::008:: E-Mail is also a handy way of contacting the dealer as then you have the proof before the bike even goes in.

Doubt it will be anything serious.

Take it back to the dealer, rattle when shutting off throttle could be the cct is slacking off the cam chain too quickly and thus rattle. Do as Rasher suggests and document everything. My personal experience with m/c dealers are they mostly just want the sale and then hope you go away. BMW have a better customer experience, I guess you are paying for that too....

The upgraded CCT was used beginning 2014 models. Hope it is something simple.

Thanks, me too :)

I have decided to leave it until the 6000 mile service which is now fairly close, so I'll be booking the bike into Padgetts and if there's any problem it should be identified and rectified then ...fingers crossed ::008::

Well, I think it may be just you. How many Tenere's have self destructed in 6000 miles? None I ever heard of, so you would have the first one ever. The power of internet forums have you wondering instead of enjoying. If the noise you speak of was truly bad, you wouldn't be here asking about it. Go ride the damned thing!

Thanks for your response, which isn't remotely helpful, but maybe it makes you feel better which would obviously be a result my friend.

I do ride my bike and have been riding bikes for a very long time, (far longer than I care to admit) :)

FYI I wouldn't have posted about my concerns if they weren't genuine and based on fact, nor did I suggest that my bike had or was about to "self destruct"

As a member of numerous bike related worldwide internet forums I have, over many years, learnt that there is always someone who thinks they know better, but in reality offer little positive help ::008::

Tyke, I assume you have not had a chance to take it into a dealer yet then?
I would also if were me, take it to an indi and see what they can contribute, as most dealers, tend to go cautiously when diagnosing new bikes incase they fall foul of the manufacturer...
Having said that, there is no rule written that states a new part (CCT) cannot fail at anytime.
Please update when you can.

Hi dogdaze....No, I haven't been to a dealer as yet, although I have spoken to the Service Manager at Padgetts and he hasn't heard of any issue with 2014 bikes.

As my 6000 service isn't that far away I'll leave it till then and get it checked out by Padgetts during the servicing. I have total faith in Padgetts as their reputation as a Yamaha dealer is extremely well known

I will post again once diagnosis has been completed, like I said it's probably just me, but it's "better to be safe than sorry" :)

I'm pretty sure Longride was just attempting to be encouraging and, admittedly, optimistic with your bike.

I'm with you on getting it diagnosed, because until you do, it will be a little nagging in the back of your mind.

Kinda funny though that you grilled him a bit, then reiterated his own opinion that "it's probably just you."
I'm hoping you're right. Both of ya, in fact. ;D
