Well I wave to everyone, farmers, mopeds, bicycles, kids, and I find when I'm on the HD it's the guys on the Adventure bikes that are to busy to wave. Life goes on.

Not trying to start an argument as I know some of you guys have or had a Kawasaki KLR I almost bought one before the Tenere.
But it seems that a lot of these guys will snub you off when you give them the wave.
I have had folks on scooters wave at me and that as most of you may have noticed is rare.

Sort of like a Hermit on a motorcycle mentality? :-\
I hope you wave back to the scooter guys! When I'm on the Vespa I make it a point to wave at everyone on two wheels, very few return the courtesy.

It's always fun to pull up to a red light next to the H-D rider, I look over, smile and give a big wave. They'll often rev their motor, then when the light goes green I'm through the intersection and they're just starting to roll. When they pass I flash a big thumbs up. Yeh, I know it's cruel. ::025::

I only have problems with Harley riders! That's why I never feel bad riding past them when they are broken down.

I have never not stopped to help someone broke down on a motorcycle, no matter what kind it is.

The last few year it seems most riders at the side of the have stopped just to make a phone call.

The wave is pretty common in this area. I throw a hand out there, but rarely know, and never care if I get snubbed. I'm not even looking at the other bike. I figure they can't tell behind my sunglasses that I'm not looking.

I do stop for bikes if it's the person is not clearly on a break. Have even turned around to go back after passing and not initially stopping. Never been necessary, but I don't mind.

Riding on a beautiful day in the Georgia/Tennessee/North Carolina mountains it is virtually impossible to wave at every ride you meet. So I am guilty as charged for not waving occasionally, but I don't discriminate against any type of riders (though sometimes I hesitate to give an oncoming Trike or Scooter the wave I must confess) - I wave and occasionally ignore bikers of all brands.

Ha ha, going up a tooth in the front sprocket solves that problem very well, as to the turbulence ??? tossing you around when there is a semi around............
I've owned two KLRs over the last 14 years, and both of them had larger front sprockets. Let me tell you - if you are on western Interstares, it takes all your attention to keep moving with traffic - especially with all the semis around. KLR riders are an eclectic group. I wouldn't read anything into them not waving at all.

The extra heft and power are two of my favorite thinks about my S10!

A couple years ago I was riding around sturgis, deadwood, and the black hills. I tried waving at couple riders but soon learned that unless I was on HOG that they had no intentions to acknowledge me, I even noticed some giving me the middle finger.

The best karma was just east of the black hills at a gas station, I noticed a HOG at the pump next
To mine just dumping out oil on to the ground.

I only got so many waves per year in me. If I see another rider while it's February or March, I'l wave like crazy. By the time it's this late in the summer and every polished Harley is on the road, I'm down to trying to wave.

I've noticed this, too. People on bikes like to snub me when I ride my Vespa. I just chuckle. When I pull up next to a bike at the lights, its usually the same experience. You can see the other rider studiously avoiding eye contact. Working at ignoring the scooter rider. LOL Light drops, I'm ready and slightly revving, and before they've fully released their clutch, I'm almost across the intersection. One of two things happens thereafter...

First is the continuation of the status quo. No boy-racing, trying to trump, etc. Everyone levels off at the speed limit and we all mosey forward. Sometimes I get a wave or nod as they drift past me down the road a ways.

Second is the "oh no you didn't, girlfriend" response. The other rider realizes their manhood has just taken a galactic smashing, they peg the throttle and over take. Dilettantes will short shift thinking I'm somehow counting their shifts and will be mucho impresto by them reaching third gear as they rip past me. Savvier riders just stay in first and wind it out, ripping past in a flurry of noise and mechanical angst designed to show me who's boss.

It takes all kinds.

Most embarrassing is a collective third group I think of as The Unfortunates.

This is a collective group of folks riding everything from Honda Groms to aging Hyundai Sonatas. Their common bond being that a stock Vespa GTS 300 can walk away from them up to 50 mph. In some cases its simply a matter of waiting for the Unfortunate to hit their own top speed, where small displacement rides are concerned. Cars, however, will eventually catch me and pass me, but by that time I've long since backed off the throttle due to speed limits. Incidentally, any early '90's Accord with a frat can bolted on is fair game when I'm on my Vespa.

For the record, unless my hand is needed for control at the moment, I wave. That's a reflection on who I am, how I see myself. If they don't wave back, meh.

Well back in the day when I was around 20 I needed transportation to work and home 65 miles RT.
My friend let me rent his Honda MB5 for two months, the poor thing was 35 pounds over it's Max and still pulled me with some effort up hills.

Nobody was waving at me just watch this 6'3" 285 pound guy humping this little Honda!! :D

I'll admit I'm a snob and I ride a KLR also. I generally don't initiate a wave during the summer months but during the PNWet winters I do. It's a rider/poser ratio thing for me.

Thank Jeebus, a wave thread. If I don't see one of these every few weeks on one of the motorcycle forums I'm on, I start getting nervous, like there's a disturbance in the Force.....
