I've been looking at changing out my 2012 clutch basket for the 2014 onwards part to reduce the vibration,in the UK it is £425 + 20% VAT but Partzilla on ebay can do it for about 300 usd delivered but they can not guarantee 100% that there won't be extra charges when it getS to the U.K.,has anyone had any experience with importing parts from the U.S.?

It's a bit hit or miss when it comes to UK imports, if the exporter states the value on the insurance and declaration sticker then more than likely the item will be tugged, on top of the 10% import and 20% VAT you'll get charged 'handling costs' by Parcel Force. It's still less than rip-off Britain prices. Sometimes there are loopholes where parts are charged at a reduced cost.

Even at £300 delivered and 30% added (£100) that is still cheaper than UK, assuming you end up paying the 30%, if not then even better. Don't forget the retainer spring, a very thin wire, the nut and gasket, the gasket is available in the UK for @£17, although I never used my gasket.

Unfortunately UK parts prices are a rip off.My ABS pump failed at 7k miles and three years old.UK list price was £1550 but found US dealers offering them below $1000 which even allowing for postage and import costs was a big saving.I could have got a pump into this country all duties paid for under £1k.

My bikes done 5.5k miles,do they get better with more mileage?
It gets better with mileage, a little. But at 5k miles, I personally would not bother for at least another 10-15k. Have you tried syncing the TB's? I would do that and change out the plugs, UK damp weather probably not the best for the plugs or coils.

i did the tb's last weekend and they were fine,i did the 3/4 turn out mod as it can be a bit "surgy" off throttle but it didn't make a whole lot of difference to that (previous owner had the ecu flashed by ecu unleashed) so i reckon it's that causing it.The bike just has a vibey patch at just over 3k rpm when accelerating which spoils the bike a bit.

Not to cast doubt, but perhaps the ECU Unleased is the cause? Rasher (another member) used them, then used CJS Racing in Bristol to much greater results and smoothness........

The other option is to fit a power commander and have the fueling set up on a dyno, there is someone selling one on UKGSer for an S10

On the Gen1, I had better luck doing the CO adjustment before the TBS. The CO adjust thread is here:

I think Geoff at Hilltop (near Leicester) is your man, if you want the fuelling sorted.

See the link here: - http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread.php/405407-Hilltop-Motorcycles-Remap

As to the clutch issue, I think I would hold for now, at those prices with sterling trading so low - unless you have any contacts/family Stateside who can assist.

Incidentally, I was wondering if we met at OYB Westcott a few weeks back - I was 2-up on a white 2014 ES - two other S10s turned up (one Worldcrosser) & one of the guys mentioned the clutch basket issue if I recall correctly .

Anyway, Ride Safe .................................. KEN

I had my bike done at Hilltop, I wouldn't recommend them, it didn't make much of a difference.

I imported my clutch basket from partshark.com, a better exchange rate when I bought it. Made a huge difference and definitely recommended.
