Had to replace the front two recently - not cheap! Anyone know if other Yamaha coils will fit eg the R6 coils look the same ( come up as a different part number but you never know...) and there’s plenty of them about

So many coil failures seems like crap ! But it’s a very common issue on vehicles built the last 20 years or so. A couple years ago I had to replace the original coil on one of my Ford tractors, the tractor is only 72 years old, the new coil supposedly has a lifetime warranty, replacing it was about a 5 minute job.

I went with a set from RM Stator out of CA. The coils are made in CN. I bought 5, 4 to install and 1 as a spare. I'm riding the bike from Cincinnati to Seattle via Joshua Tree this Sunday. One of the coils arrived damaged (connector to coil seam was split), but RM Stator sent an RMA label as soon as I reported the problem.
They should be issuing a refund as soon as they receive the part.
I also ordered a Fenda Extenda. Hopefully it arrives by Sat.
The throttle response is much better with the new coils.
I'll install Iridium plugs next.20231025_092141.jpg
