Ignition Coils - replaced

So i decided to do a bit of "above and beyond" extra-maintenance to make sure everything is working at 100% for a long time....48.000 miles on my bike, took it to the shop to change oil+filter, clutch friction plates, NGK Iridium plugs and replace all 4 ignition coils ( OEM ).

I had a few warning signs suggesting this would be a good idea, 2 rusted spark plugs from a previous change, ocasional misfire while warming up, rougher engine sound on acceleration, slight hesitations on a steady throttle and one of the headers was always warmer then the other ( you can see 2 of the plugs show signs of poor combustion ).

I took the advice on a thread somewhere and added an extra o-ring to prevent water ingress.

On a curious note....the clutch was slipping badly after all this, almost unrideable....had to go back to the shop and it turned out that somehow during the clutch plate change process, the clutch cylinder diaphragm dilated and caused a loss of pressure.

I barely had to squeeze the clutch to change gear, 68 mph was hard to come by with all the revving but no actual go....when it revved and it didn't go according to throttle input, it would also show a lower gear ( if i was in 6th, it would show 5th for a few moments ) on the dash or the same symbol you get when you pull the clutch in

A new diaphgram later, everything is pulling as it should.

The engine sounds different, crispier, the bike feels like its pulling stronger and fuel consumption should go down, hopefully. Good to for for many more miles.

One of my tractors is 72 years old and the original coil went bad a couple years ago, $35 to replace it with a lifetime warranty coil and about 15 minutes of pretty easy work.

Wow that is a lot of maintenance for those miles. You are good to go for a looooonnnggg time now.
There's no price to piece of mind and a clean burn of fuel....

I learned about 27 years ago that "if you take care of your gear, your gear will take care of you" :)

Man, I feel like a slacker. I still have my original coils at 91,000 miles.
I know someone who had to replace two at 6.200 miles....true story....
