If you had $1200 to spend for Yamaha parts what would you get for your Tenere?

Looking at buying a leftover 2013 from a dealer and they are offering $1200 worth of Yamaha Merchandise so wondering what you would buy with it? I don't love the Yamaha luggage. Would rather buy Jesse's or Global Scouts. I hear the Yamaha skid plate is almost worthless. I also here that the Yamaha crash bars don't protect much. So what would you spend the $1200 on? Wish they just gave you $1200 cash. That would be easy to spend. Haha... Only thing I can think of is maybe a WorldCrosser sticker kit but not even sure if that would be eligible. And maybe an extended YES Warranty. But not sure that is even necessary after reading how everyone loves their S10 and most have had very few issues..

Even knowing what I know now. I'd go with the Panniers again. As you stated the other items aren't that great. I think the Panniers "work" I like the mounting system doesn't leave a huge frame when you take them off. The locks comes with the bike so you don't have to buy any.. Yeah, the latches are crappy and it hard to turn, but IMO, they are the most useable item.

And if you really dislike them or any of them items, just turn around and sell them...

Heated grips (if you ride all year)
Worldcrosser Stickers

I agree.

The locking system sucks but it probably still the best choice for the dollars involved.

If that ain't happening then go with Heated Grips, clutch basket, CCT, and assorted other parts.

Some thoughts:

- I've run Jesse's in the past, but my leftover 2013 came with Yamaha bags and they're good enough that I'm not looking to replace them (and I even added the factory top box). Worth the cash.

- My bike also had the factory crash bar installed, and if nothing else it gives me a good spot to mount highway pegs. I've not tested its actual protective capabilities. Dunno if I would have paid for this.

- Agree on the YES.

- The factory heated grips are expensive compared to more DIY options but I'm a HUGE fan of heated grips in general.

-Something to consider is getting the low seat option. If nothing else, it'll give you a stock seat pan to send out to be rewickered by Russell or Mayer or similar.

My personal 'OEM farkle' list would be bags, heated grips, low seat (for the pan), and YES.

I went with the World Crosser Kit for mine.
The carbon fibre side pannels and fork protectors are great. The carbon fibre frame protectors are purely cosmetic as are the stickers obviously. The bash plate looks great but is pretty usless as a bash plate, I replaced mine with a rumbux but cut the exhaust protector part of the WC bash plate off and kept that as it looks better than the standard item.
All in all I'm glad I went for it for the carbon fibre parts alone.

Well I ended up not buying a bike from a dealer so I guess this three is no longer relevant to me. But I guess it could be for someone else. I did ended up buying a 2013 White (fastest color) with 4k on the clock. Going to go pick it up on Saturday. Only bummer is that the first long ride will be in the back of my truck. I have to go pick it up then work a 96hr shift before returning home to Utah. But that should be the last time the bike sees the back of a pickup. Now let the Farkling begin. First thing will be a Sena Bluetooth. Not sure if I wanna buy the 10 again or try the new 20. Then it's fuse block, heated grips, 4 way flashers (euro handlebar switch). Want that for doing cycling events and some big boy mods. Tall wind screen (Suggestions?) lower pegs, 2" Rox risers with extended brake lines etc.

Fuse Box (I got the Eastern Beaver PC8) are awesome. Really makes installation of aftermarket electronic accessories a breeze...

IMO, the 2" Rox Risers and long lines have been one of the best "farkles" I've done on my bike. Its made standing and riding over rough stuff so much easier. Feel much more in control...

The Sena 10 is terrific. Parrellem Wind shield (I have the med. 22in.) with Yamaha winglets, work very well together. Eastern Beaver block excellent. Can't say about lowered pegs although Warp9 is just about to release their adventure pegs, I'll probably will own them. Stay with the Rox standard not the anti-vibe.

Good choise!

I'm curiosity s why nobody installs the fuse block under the seat? Is there no room under there? It's such easy access and your not having to remove panels. I haven't picked up my bike yet so I haven't looked to see if there is room or not. I just noticed everyone installing by the battery. So every time you hook something up your removing plastic instead of just pulling off the seat. Just curious.

I use the under seat location for my tire patch kit. CO2 ect.
You don't really need to get at the fuse block all that often and if you do it would be right next to the other fuse box.
You will have to cut out some plastic webbing to locate the box nest to the other fuses. Not a issue.

I installed mine up front on the battery side.

For me, most of my add-ons are at the front of my bike; GPS power source and Aux Lights. So rather than having to route lines from the battery to the fuse box then route all the other wires from the front of the bike back to the seat area, I felt it was easier/cleaner to have shorter wires and keep everything up front...

+2

The only "circuit" I have running back to the seat area is the connection for my heated gear. Everything else is on the handlebars forward, well, except for the feed to the tank bag, but I brought that up from the front of the tank.

PIAA'S LED FOG LIGHTS, they're life-savers. With their wide-angle beam, drivers at intersections will see you better.
