If You Could Build Your Dream Super Ténéré...

I've got a fun question for the collective... One that may stimulate some entertaining conversation. But it has a practical aspect, too, and should be just as fun for those who haven't gotten a Super Ténéré yet as well as all those who already have one.

If you could start from start from scratch, either with a perfectly good 2012-2013 or with one of the new 2014 models, how would you build and equip your own "Dream Super Ténéré"?

Now I'm not talking about some far-off future model of Super Ténéré that hasn't been developed yet. Basically just how you'd mod, farkle, and equip a currently available model. It will also be fun if you elaborate on what kind of riding you see yourself doing on it, as well as your reasons for picking your mods and accessories. Links and pictures of your dream gear would be great, too, as often times some folks will know where to get things other folks have never even heard of or may not even know exist.

I know many here already have their bikes dialed-in and honed pretty sharp for their chosen *mission statement*, but I'll bet some of those folks have some things they might do differently if they could start over. So let's hear how and why you'd do it differently.

This is all mostly for fun, but I'll bet we might all learn a lot from a thread like this, too. ::008::

So let the dream bike building begin! ::001::

have all the camping gear i've ever wanted, so no list there....

what have i forgotten that i can't live without?

I think I have what I really wanted out of the S10. Only thing I would add to my 2012 is cruise. It is the best overall bike I have ever owned and don't have any plans to do anything with her except ride. Every bike has their little quirks. I can live with the ones that she has. ::021::

I'm already building it! Although the factory cruise is a very strong temptress to trade up from my 2012 to a 2014...

Next on my list is suspension, ECU flash and a little bit more lighting....

Jim, there is plenty you haven't listed which some of us have gone and done. For many, we are talking over $6k in add ons.

I'd find an expert in motorcycle biomechanics and sort out the terrible ergonomics, focusing on getting the seat, handlebar and peg position right.

Good topic. I have finished building my dream Tenere:

Rumbux crash bars and skid plate
Worldcrosser final drive guard
ECU Unleashed flash
ABS off switch
Heated grips
Stoltec straight rate fork springs
Cogent Dynamics shock
Touratech rear racks - including replacement of the rear seat with the rack
Mitas E07 tires
Folding shift lever
Touratech heel guards
Side windshield deflectors
1" bar risers
Side racks for mounting of Wolfman soft panniers - off the bike except for trips
Rear bag with survival, emergency and recovery gear

Mission statement: A highway capable bike meant for mostly day trips on forest and rougher roads throughout the desert and mountain Southwest.

Then the BOSCH "cornering" ABS system that's now being used by KTM, it works in corners!! Stopping is more important then going. ::013::

Leave it to you to either not read the original question, or be totally unable to understand it. ::025::

Otherwise, let's see your wrenching skills and watch as you get these things done to your S-10. ::)

Folks, like the original post says, this is supposed to be about a Super Tenere you could put together yourself... Like installing a 21" front wheel. Not about pie-in-the-sky future fantasy bikes with BMW engines, or having light weight impossible to obtain without unobtainium materials. ::025::

I was hoping this thread would be someplace where we could all hear and see new and different accessories and mods, maybe even with links and pics.

But then again, I guess threads develop a direction of their own! ::017::
