It is here after a year’s postponement due to Covid. IBA hasn’t put up the links to the rally yet.

Start and Finish location is Provo, UT.

It only runs on odd years anyway, fortuitously skipping right over the 2020 pandemic last year, so for 2021 it seems the rally will just be run as planned on it's regular schedule with no postponement?

No Canada bonuses this year due to Covid restrictions at the border. I'm going to checkpoint #2 to help riders and bring some items for riders that I know. And no, I won't say where that is unless and until the IBA makes it public.

I'm driving in on Sunday and can bring tires or any other parts I may have in stock at the shop. I should be at checkpoint #2 around 4-5 PM.

Will you have the ability to do tire changes? I know at least one rider that has not finalized his tire change plans, but likely needs a tire swapped at Checkpoint #2. I'm debating bringing my bead breaker and spoons, but not excited about doing so.

I could bring along the necessary tools and "help" someone swap a tire. The tire inventories at the distributor level are getting very low. Anyone needing a tire at the checkpoint should make their plans well in advance.

Looks like there's three: 2 - Gen2 and 1 - Gen1

Any of them members here?
I know at least two of them, Dan and Bucky, but I don't know if they come here or not.

From the latest update - The theme of the rally is “Miles of Progress” and the intent is to find bonuses with historical significance in innovation and progress for the human condition.

Interesting that Huntsville is a checkpoint this year and it was the start and finish location for the 2001 Rally.

Another indicator that the H-D is going to sell. . . . there's one listed for this event, and barely on the street. And, only three Teneres.
I've been in communication with the HD PA rider. He only knew for sure he was in about a month and a half ago. Talk about scrambling to prep. He bought and mounted a Moto jug yesterday at the start. He already had a system set up, but strapped to the bike since he has no mounts or time. His racks were waiting at the hotel when he got there. Mosko Moto soft bags over those. He's pretty determined to finish and I think he has a shot. I know the KTM 300 EXC 6 Day 2-stroke rider and he's already a multiple IBR finisher, but I still think he's nuts and will be riding some other bike at the finish. That bike has a 37.7" seat height, before he put the RDL on it. He had it on the trailer ready to go home when a local that also has one convinced him to come to his house so they could lower it. Word is he looked happy with it doing the odo check. 2-strokes have finished before, but with more displacement, (750cc Suzuki Water Buffalo).

You tube vid of the start HERE

Yeah, I saw a couple bikes on the list that I wouldn't want to ride to the grocery store, never mind an iron butt. But, I'm a candy ass.

There is no reason to lower that bike. Seat hight is not a determining factor in regards to holding a bike up. How can he be riding some other bike at the finish and still be considered a finisher? Are the IBR rules different than the standard IB rules?

Only thing I would be concerned with is the bike seizing up at speed. 2 strokes cannot be held open for long periods of time. He must have some very high gearing. 15/45 at least.

FWIW a KTM300 has just as much chance as any other bike finishing as long as it's properly setup. With a Russle Day Long saddle it is going to be a comfortable ride. The new 300's have a counterbalanced crank so the vibes are a non issue.

I'm willing to bet that is not just a standard bike purchased at any old dealer. The entrant probably had mechanics (or himself) go over that bike with a fine tooth comb to ensure it will not break down during the event.
