I will most likely end up with a second SuperTenere... not sure what to do.

Long story, but here is the short version. I bought my first S10 this last week and I am very excited about this bike. I was able to pick up my NEW 2014 for $11,700 out the door. The bike was priced at $10,999 and the rest was taxes. I'm not sure what you guys are paying for yours, but I felt like this was a very good deal. The reason I was able to secure such a good deal was because I had a little leverage. I have a connection that allows me to purchase a New Yamaha every once and a while for really low pricing. This dealership knows about my connection, so they took care of me to keep my business. Prior to shopping, I had asked my connection about the S10 to see what he could get me one for. He told me $10,000 but that I would have to pick it up out of state and ride it home. I told him I'd let him know. I then told the dealership if they could come within a grand of my connections price, I would buy from them. They did, so I did and all is well.

Yesterday I get a phone call from my connection to let me know the Tenere will be ready in about a week. What?! He totally misunderstood me and went ahead and ordered the bike. I don't want to ruin this relationship so, after talking with the wife, it looks like I am going to get the second bike so as not to cause any problems. I don't think I will lose money trying to unload one of them, so I guess I will just see what happens. Looks like good fortune smiled on me twice and put me in a bind while doing so. I guess I should have been a bit more clear with my connection, but I thought I had been.

Do you guys think I will have any trouble moving one of them? Supposedly the new one is a 2015 ES, but I will believe it when I see it. I can't believe I got myself into this mess.

I have two. due to odd circumstances. But I love it.

I turned one into a cruiser and one into the baddest dirt bike I have ever ridden.

What else could I want? :-\

I would love to keep both. Unfortunately, I cannot. So, one will have to go up for sale.

Depending on where you live I'd bet there's a market for a new ES. Here in Texas, there are tons of '12s but no 14s or 15s. Just a thought.

Please elaborate a little more on your situation. You have $11,700 in a 2014? Is it an ES? You are only going to have $10,000 plus tax in the '15, so I'm assuming that is the one you want to keep? So, in a nut shell, you are selling a 2014 (ES?) for $11700. ? Have you put any miles on it yet? Enquiring minds want to know. LOL

I am not entirely sure. I am waiting on the 2015 to see what comes in. If it is the ES model, then yes, I will be selling the 2014. If not, then I will most likely sell the 2015. It's a strange predicament to be in I know, but I don't want to leave my buddy hanging. He's a good friend and a good contact to have.

tell you what.
If the 15 is a base, I can take it off your buddy's hands directly.

Had something similar happen. Was trying to buy a leftover Speed Triple from a friend who is a Triumph Dealer. He was not in a hurry to sell me the bike at my price so I offered him $26000. for the Speed Triple and a new Trophy that was there. He looked me straight in the face and said, "I'll call your bluff". I was brought up that a man's word is everything and ended up owning 2 bikes. In the end I rode them both for a while, sold both and it cost me $1000. to ride 2 new bikes for a year. I'd say it worked out pretty well and I kept both a friend and my credibility. You will come out of it fine. Don't panic and go with the flow. It will all work out at the prices your getting in at.

He did not misunderstand you, it is a sales gimmick. He had to replace the previous Tenere anyhow so did a dealer trade knowing you were interested, he then called to see if you were sincere at all pretending like he ordered it just for you. If you do not take it, then no big deal he would merely sell it to someone else, whatever you do make this YOUR decision and do not let someone else influence you out of 10k simply out of guilt, that is a lot of coin and I promise you the loving salesman would not hand you 10k out of the kindness of his heart.
Personally, I would tell them to get bent.

I doubt you will have any problem selling either for the prices you are mentioning.

I'd love to upgrade my 12 for those prices.

My friend does not work for Yamaha. He used his connections and his personal pricing to get a bike for me. To get the pricing he gets, he agrees to pay for it if I back out. I would not do that to him. I am not going to lose over it. Yes, 10K is a lot of money, but in the end I should not lose any money, and someone else will get a very good price on a killer bike.

UPDATE: Looks like my 2015 will be here in about 2 weeks. I am getting the Red / Black ES model. I'm pretty stoked! Best part is one of my riding buddies is going to sell his old GS1150 so he can purchase my 2014 Blue. He's getting a good deal, I am getting an even better deal on the new one and all is well. I haven't ridden the bike as much as I would like, so as not to put too many miles on it when my buddy buys it, but I have my list of accessories and will start accumulating them this week. Heading down to Happy-Trail in Boise tomorrow to see what they have.
