I was eating lunch today in Jacksonville, FL and another customer eating at the bar with me saw my helmet and asked if the Blue Super Terere belonged to me and we started talking and one thing lead to another and her gave me his card and told me if im interested to join his BMW GS1200 club of Jacksonville and go riding with them. ??? He was one of the board members for the club and told me to become "one of us". I am proud to say that he loved the way the Super Yammi looks but also said i should trade it in for a GS1200. >:D . I have not heard or seen any Yamaha riders club for the Jax area so im tempted but for the time being i might tag alone with them if the doing some off-roading. ::002:: Please don't be mad at me guys since i do still love my XT1200Z. Oh after that lunch encounter i did check out Jenning State Park and hit up some dirt roads and lived up to my name.

Well it sounds like we need to start a
Tenere Riders Of Jacksonville And North-east-florida club.

"TROJAN" we'll call it!

Possible Tag Lines:
"We always make it in...and back out"
"Never scared to ride dirty"
"Reliability is the ultimate protection"

There is a BMW club in MA I was thinking of joining. I been to a couple of their events. Nice group of guys, on the older side. They don't care what you ride....They do a few camp outs a year. Relaxed group which I like. My only fear is the attempts to convert you to the church of Bavaria....

A good friend of mine has a GS and we ride together from time to time. Another riding buddy has an older airhead BMW and a Moto Guzzi Norge. If I was not prepared to ride with other marques, I would be riding by myself all the time. My Super Ten is a very rare bird in this part of the world, so if I started a Super Tenere club here, it would have a membership of one. ;D

I'll be poking a stick in the Beemer hive this July. My Brother drives a 1100RT, Going with him to the MOA rally in Minnesota. It will be interesting to see how much interest/slander I will get. Also looking forward to trying out the new GS for comparison.

Makes me wonder what I would say if a Harley acknowledged me. I think its cause they can't hear me though. Someday, I hope to surprise one.

As much as I poke fun at them and get poked fun at, the HD riders have invited and accepted me into many of their events. In fact the majority of my experience is they are very interested in the bike. Good example, I was at Bentley's Saloon in Arundle ME. This is a died in the wool biker bar....90% Cruisers 10% sport bikes. I never saw one other adventure bike there....here is my S10 parked next to some very nice custom bikes...what bike is everyone looking at....yup the Yammy ::022::. I was quick to point that out to my HD buddies. ::025::

Absolutely right - bikers are bikers first and 'club' of whatever marque second. Other than at my dealer, yet to meet another S10 owner. Bit of ribbing is fine, but let's all keep the faith - as bikers!

No.......don't drink the koolaid..........its a cult........next you will be buying logo jackets and singing funny songs in german......beware

Motorcycle loyalty is an interesting study on human psychology. The need to belong and identify with something. It is so apparent with both BMW and HD. "be one of US", Say the oath and live forever.......

Its all with the best intention an in friendship that this dude extends his invitation but funny never the less how he suggests that you trade you bike. ::021::

...there's no conversion - IF you've already been there.

I've been there - no thank you to return at this time.

I still hang out with a couple of BMW groups, mostly as a guest. Like you, they're good guys and have other bikes besides BMW's so there's no pressure to become assimilated. :D
They are riders first, Beemerfiles second. Who knows, I may own another BMW down the road, but they need to get their act together as far as reliability goes.
