Sigh.

I admit it. I'm a bad motorcycle parent.

I haven't been riding since, damn, July? Buy a new truck, road trip, travel for work, get laid off, trend on Twitter, go back to work, slip in a beach vacation in the Bahamas...I've been busy.

And now, it appears we're going to have some decent weather here this weekend - mid-50's. So naturally my usual gang of crazies has decided to dust off their FJRs and take a spin this weekend. Might find a KTM 1190 R in the mix, but we'll see.

I, however, will be rockin' the Tenere - the single best bike to ever roam the planet.

...because the 690 Enduro R just ain't the right bike for 6 hours in the saddle! LOL

Fingers crossed I can be a better parent this weekend. :)

Good to see you back, Duane. Fyi, July to February is 7 months, dude! Amazing how the weeks tick by sometimes with no saddle time. That's life when you have work, wife, kids, dogs, house, etc. Enjoy the ride this weekend!

By the way, there have been a couple of threads in the last week or two about those Altrider fork guards that you reviewed briefly in your Teton panniers video review. How have those worked out for you?

WEll, it will be a couple more months for this old northern dog, but that's ok ... thanks for asking. ::025:: We just came off of about two weeks of minus 35 ish. I must be getting old, because I was starting to get cranky. However, it is a scant minus 10 this morning (that's 14 for you uninformed types), so I'm going for a ski. It's downright tropical out there. I'll have to be careful not to overheat. OK, that's all I got. Send money. And let's be careful out there. R ::020::

Jeez, I missed you guys! :D

@arjayes - thanks man - I'll poke around for the threads and respond. Quick answer - fork guards remain primo - MUCH better than the neoprene units - egads, avoid those, IMO.

Teton panniers are rock, freakin' solid several thousand miles later - on and off road. Stickers are starting to peel slightly around the edges, but whatevs. if they fall off, I'll replace with something else reflective. To be honest, though, I think they'll stay put even if the edges curl a bit - tacky glue on them. ;)

Should I have just stayed home?

Broken fender, crushed cowl main support, bend headlight protector (which might have just saved the headlight "glass"). Dented pannier on friend's bike, the license plate, which we fixed later that day - the plate, not the pannier.

Big scratch on the right-side cowl...BTW, it's black ABS plastic under the paint. ;)
