Finally got some dirt under my wheels, and holy crap, I don't like T mode in dirt. On steep graded uphill hairpins I almost dumped the bike in T mode. Definitely need S mode to "throttle for safety".

What traction control settings and tire pressures are you guys running in dirt? Anyone prefer T mode in dirt? And why?

Give me a sec to get some pics up. This is of old Coast Rd along Hwy 1 near Big Sur, Ca

TCS 2 or TCS Off in T mode when I'm off pavement and mostly standing on the pegs. Post ECUnleashed flash, dyno'd PCV map, airbox mods, headers, slip on, etc... S mode is too twitchy and the smooth power delivery, yet available power if I really need it, is still there in T mode.

It's become an automatic response for me to arrive off pavement and immediately turn TCS off. TCS2 is far too restrictive for fun. It barely allows power slides and shuts down wheelies too quickly. S mode with clutch jumper in for best response. But I'm happiest with the back wheel spinning. Tire pressure never changes on or off pavement.

Yeah, power mods would make a difference. Hadn't thought of that. I run stock exhaust and a reflash. Still trying to post pics, but the allowed size is smaller than I can get my ipad to shrink the images down to. Still working on it. Can you be on the move when switching traction control and power modes?

Power modes between S and T: Yes, but only while coasting, no throttle input.

TC modes: No, you have to be stopped.

ABS: No, to temporarily deactivate just put the bike on center stand and in gear for a few seconds, you will trick the system and it will be off until the next ignition key cycle.

UBS: Yes (for each time you apply the brakes), just tap the rear brake before the front one.

Leave mine in S mode 24/7/365 for any type of riding and turn TC off when I want to have fun but always off when off road, every time.

I hate having drive modes personally. I want one bike at all times so I know exactly what to expect from it instinctively in any oh shit moment.

I did a ride this past Sunday, about 100 miles of dirt! I started off in TCS 2 in T mode, but given the extreme amount of washboard we were riding, I kicked TCS off, and was much happier. My bike is stock, and I'm running the K60s; it was amazing how sure footed the bike is, and with TCS off, I could really feel what the rear end was doing, and not be fooled by TC intervention.

One of you guys pm-ed me that it might be a TC1 vs TC2/Off rather than T mode vs S mode. I'm thinking he was right. Are most people who are taking it to the dirt doing the ABS off switch mod or are they leaving it alone?

Search the forum on how to build an ABS switch as there is info out there. Or toss it on the centerstand, run it for a few seconds in gear, and the ABS is gone till you cycle the key again.

Me... I am fine with the ABS. For 99% of my offroad riding, it works fine. I can live with the 1%.

I can't speak for others, but if you want to drag your rear wheel to help steer your bike around turns, or drag it on steep downhills to enhance stability, you need to be able to turn ABS off. I used a kill switch I bought on Ebay for $14, and wired it into the ABS fuse contacts. It has the fuse in-line on one of the wires of the switch.

Once you switch it off, the key has to be cycled to turn it back on again, but that is no big deal.
