Hyper-Lites for the S-10 arrived, but it is too cold in the garage to tear the bike apart now and check wire colors and power source.

Looking at their installation instructions, their wiring scheme ("generally accurate for Yamaha") claims wiring to be:

Black = ground wire
Blue = running light power
Yellow= brake light power

Can anyone who has installed these tell me if this is correct for wire colors on the S-10?

This is going to be a long winter.....

It's been over a year since I put mine on but I believe that is correct. You will really like them. A couple of my riding buddies riding behind me noticed them & had to order some. I ordered a 16 light hyper lite & installed below my tag on the fender. Hooked it up to the controller so all I had to get was the 1 light, really cheep way to light up the rear.

It's been over a year since I installed mine also, Jan 2013. The Yamaha color codes in the instructions are correct according to the notes I had saved on my installation instructions. I got the Universal Kit - Modulating - Brake Light Only.
The attached pictures show my Hyper-lites installation.

First Picture:
You can see where the hyperlites are mounted on the license plate bracket.
I drilled a hole for the wires in the license plate bracket then pulled the wires through and used silicone to stick the lights to the bracket.
The double sided tape that came with the lights was not very good so I did not use it.

Second Picture:
I drilled a hole in the plastic fender to route both wires through to the inside of the fender.
You can see where the wires come out of the hole in the license plate bracket and through the fender behind the license plate.

Third Picture:
You can see the red arrow is pointing to where the wires come through on the inside of the fender.
I ran the wires through some 1/4" plastic sleeving to help protect and hide the wires.
To create a good route for the wires I drilled holes in the fender ribs where the green arrows are pointing.
I routed the wiring through these holes and up to under the passenger seat where you can splice the wires into the bike's wiring.
To get to the bike's wiring you have to take the seat off and then there is a plate under the seat that comes off. There are 3 or 4 bundles of wire there if I remember right. There is a thread that describes this better and tells you which bundle of wires to cut in to.

I found a supplier for the plastic sleeving where you can order it by the foot. (http://www.kayjayco.com/catPCCoverings.htm)
Go to the website then use the drop down arrow to see the selections. Select the "1/4" Black Vinyl 105ºC Sleeving". They also have it in 3/8 and 1/2 inch.

I have used these for the last three years. They work very well except that the whites ones for the front have progressively become deem forcing me to install new spot lights.
