I didn't care much for the plastic rear rack so I removed it along with the plastic sub-rack below and added a Pelcan 1150 for some water tight storage. That worked great but as I tour with a fairly large seat bag, I felt I likely needed something a bit more stout back there when it come time to cinch heavy things down. I looked at the usual suspects from both Altrider and Tourtech but they seemed both pricey and a bit on the "look at me" side. Wolfman made a nice rack but that appears to be out of production now. Then I found the Happy-Trail rack. It was the right color (black), the right size (useful but not massive), and the right price (~85/US). I've also had good luck with there stuff on other bikes so I ordered one up. It came quickly, was well packed & seems to be of very solid construction:

4 spacers, 4 washers, and 4 bolts torq' to 18 ft pds later, I think it looks pretty good:

The thing I had not realized tho is that when you then take the pillon seat off (2 bolts, just to the rear of the main saddle one you take it off) you are left with a 2' long, slightly recessed platform, perfect for strapping mega bags down:

And the Pelican? It can bolt on/off the rack fairly easily:

All-in-all it seems like a very good deal for the quality and flexibility it provides. 'Highly recommended.

That looks great! I wish that someone would develop one that would work with the OEM top Case. ::010::
