I live close to a couple of others. Met them here on the forum. Ironically, I only met up with them in person in Colorado for the Tenere Rally.

Busy lives. Great folks though.

Hey Texans,

I am considering a ride to the Yucatan in January. got a plantation in Merida to stay at.

I have had the fortune of doing a lot of riding in North America. But never the western gulf coast through Texas.

It is a fifty hour trip, one way. Although I have traveled extensively through the Peninsula, basically from Austin to Merida is virgin territory for me.

My question is.... Does this sound like a good ride? with regards to scenery, locals, camping and such.

thanks

Jeff

Austin to the Rio Grande won't be a problem, watch out for deer at night. South of Progresso to Monterrey I'd sure be careful.

I just went down to Monterrey two weeks ago with no issues. You may want to consider staying out of Tamaulipas. I hear it's riskier in that state.

Thanks! I'm a really lucky guy in many ways. Great wife, awesome son.

Now I just need to sell my panniers before spring so I can get the bike some new shoes!

Welcome from Forney,Tx. My story is exactly the same. Love my new S10 and handed down the old KLR to my oldest son.
