As some of you will recall I installed an EB PC-8 some time back and documented it with lots of pics on this thread:
http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=8215.msg137668

That thread has served many of you on countless installations of the PC-8. Well, this is an update a couple of years down the road because as I found, there is one fatal flaw in that installation and I feel obligated to give you all a heads up before you find yourself in the middle of nowhere without power to all of the switched components you have hanging off of your PC-8.

As you can see by readin the previous thread I stuffed the relay in the space adjacent to the battery.
Stuffed the relay and main fuse in the little space. Still have the tender lead directly to the battery.

Notice that the head of the realy is pointing down. You can see it behind the yellow wire in the above picture. Also notice that the shrink wrap is super tight around the relay bu then has to get a little smaller as it wraps the connector? ... So Houston we have a problem with that. Because the top side has enough room for a little moisture to creep in ... and the super tight part on the realy does not let that moisture out ... we get this after enough rainstorm riding:

I found this out when I tried to use my heated grips ... no joy. The unswitched positions continue to work and the relay makes a clicking noise but does not work properly. I replaced it with a 30 Amp relay from a parts store but could not find shrink wrap big enough to wrap it. The new relay was slightly larger that the one from EB but the prongs fit properly. I am going to get a new one from EB and some shrink wrap and then re-arrange the positioning. Once that is complete I will report back to this thread with my modified setup. In the meantime if you have issues check you relay for corrosion.
