Clarification: I live in the same city as the seller. I don't know him and only asked him how the bike has 2 owners with being so new....
I did not get an answer on that part....

I don't think it's worth the trouble. I'm not sure what a "bonded title" is but 2 owners with 33 miles and I notice that the trailer has Mississippi plates.

I wouldn't mess with it, red flags every where. a new 15 model is about 6.5,k in price. this one at 5k and 33 miles, walk away. sounds stolen.

The person is fishing for a naive person like you. It's possible it was stolen, or it could simply be that one of the last two owners lost the title or left town and can not be contacted. I've seen people try this to get around conveying a salvage title (for example a flood vehicle), hoping that when the computer records eventually catch up, the vehicle will be sold and they'll have the money from the sale.

Getting concerned yet? You should be. I'd start with getting a photo or photocopy of the bonded title and take it to the DOT to see what they have on background.

IF you still want to go through with the purchase, vehicles with a salvage or bonded title typically get marked down by a solid quarter to third of normal price. A brand new $6500 price at the dealer with this title is overpriced above $4290-$4875, and once it is a used vehicle, you'd take depreciation and damage off of that range.

I agree with what has already been said. If it were me, I'd find another DR650. Winter is coming and new leftovers will be available for not much more.

clearly overpriced.

the bonded title: if he is telling the truth he or the previous owner lost the title and that is why it is bonded. MS has bonded titles so kinda red flag kinda not. My bigger concern is 33 miles, I call BS and think something is amiss. Get a photo copy of the title and spend time with the DMV or move on, dont pay that for that.

a brand new bike shouldn't be having title issues, it may be on the up and up but I'd say your odds are 50/50 at best. If you are a lawyer and like to play with the DMV have at it, otherwise walk. DR's like KLR's are sort of hard to break. If you really want to save money find a minty 5 or 10 year old one. I's say what you are looking at should be at least a couple of grand under list, otherwise it would be worth their time to clear the title issue prior to sale. Title issues are no fun and the potential road blocks many...

I recently bought a used DR650 that was only one model year old at the time. It had 1200 miles on it so it was basically new. It was also 30% less than the bike you're seeing in town. Even if that bike had a clear title and in new condition, it's dramatically over priced.

The DR650 is a fantastic bike. I was out enjoying mine just 2 hours ago. Highly recommend it. Just not that one with a questionable title and suspicious ownership. Many, many used ones out there. Should not take too long to find one worthy of your money.

Thanks for all the input. Yeppers, it does seem a bit too "shady", too many unknowns.
It has been relisted for 4750 starting bid, but I agree, still too high considering all the potential trouble.....

Thanks!
