Something weird there. Even my brand new Tenere had 3 point something miles on it out of the crate.

So it does read zero right?
That is not even possible because all bikes now days are dyno run at the factory that I know of. Even a 2 yr old bike just moved around a shop would have a few miles on it.

Maybe a replaced gauge cluster?

I also had 0 on mine when I picked it up at the dealership. It's a little weird to look at, since you almost never see that lack of miles on bikes. My FJR had zero on it as well, because they knew I was going to do a break in ride and bring it back for an oil change after ~35 miles. (Didn't want to ride it the 200 miles home w/o doing break in and oil change. Should have SEEN the crap that came out of that bike!)

I have set up a lot of Super Teneres for my dealer, including my own and they all had 0 miles on the odo. The setup person is supposed to take a test ride and then fill out and sign a check sheet, but I normally do only a few tenths. With an electronic speedo, I don't think any mileage put on pushing it around the shop with the key off would register anything.

Here is my bike when I set it up.

Yamaha's setup process includes two check sheets for the setup person to fill out and sign. The first is a before ride check sheet of several items to verify they are working and have been installed correctly. The second sheet is a post ride check sheet to verify items are working properly after an actual test ride. It does not specify how far this test ride should be and this is generally up to the setup person. I have done hundreds of setups on Yamaha and Hondas for my dealer (a great part time retirement job, BTW) and some bikes get a short ride of a few tenths, which would only show up if you toggle from ODO to the trip ODO. Others that might be more "interesting" might get more than that. The best part of the setup process, in my opinion. ;D. Also, our dealer is very liberal with regards of allowing test rides by customers, so many of the bikes on the showroom will have some miles on them. He does get a few bikes that are officially demo bikes from both Yamaha and Honda, but if he doesn't have an official demo and a customer is interested in a bike and has a motorcycle endorsement on their driver's license, they can take a ride. So, while some bikes on the floor may show 0 on the odo, many will show more. Of course, if a bike is ordered by a customer, in other words is pre sold, such as the PDP Teneres we got, it will only have the few tenths put on by our setup people for the purpose of the post ride check list.

Ok, so I guess it is a new bike, so that makes me ask, why is it being sold at a used bike dealer with a used title and 0 miles?
Just odd.
You didn't tell us that part. I have no idea on that. It does seem odd.

The only thing I can think of is it may have been titled/sold, but never delivered. Meaning a buyer backed out, and someone did the paperwork prematurely. Once the paperwork goes in, it has to be sold as used. Other than that, it seems a bit weird.

Four scenarios I can think of.

1) It was ordered under the PDP in a person's name, (shop owner or customer), and they backed out on it.

2) It's a left over bike that the used bike shop bought from the dealer, instantly making it 'used'. (may vary by state)

3) It's a new bike, but due to eBay policy, non Dealers may not be able to sell it w/o warranty as 'new'. Thus the mileage listing of 1, but odo showing 0.

4) Less likely, and probably self evident once you saw the bike in person, it's had unknown miles put on it and a speedo replacement. (Very unlikely)

I'm guessing it's THIS BIKE. I would say that's about as new as new gets, but you might want to verify if it has a warranty or not, even to the extent of calling Yamaha with the VIN. If the dealer registered it, making it used, the warranty clock would be ticking from that point on. If it's over a year, you wouldn't be able to add the YES extended warranty to it.

Edit - I once used an eBay auction like this to talk a local shop down on the identical bike. They called the shop and verified the bike was indeed new and for sale at that price, (left over bike from the previous model year), and then we haggled. I got them within $500 on the price, but they threw in the 4 year YES and a free first service along with a few spare filters, etc. Made it worth it for me to buy from them.

Oh, and I see the bike is on the opposite end of the country from you. Buy me a coach ticket and some gas money and I'll be happy to ride it back from FL for you. ::001:: Take me a couple of days if weather co-operates.

I agree, it likely falls into a simple scenario, but it just seemed odd. I am doing a similar negotiating on that and a couple other adds. My benefit is that I have about 10 Yamaha dealers within an hour and I am not married to any one place. I am more than happy to manipulate them all against each other for the best deal for me. Don't mean for that to sound bad, but I am in a weird financial place in life and this is a HUGE jump for me right now. Every single dollar is a big deal for me.

Thanks for the offer Eric, but if anyone is going to fly/ride it is all me. I think I can do pretty well locally, but I am not afraid of a fly ride for the right deal. I want a 2013 I think because they are offering 3.49% financing right now and not offering that on left over 2012s so that alone makes it worth the pop on a 2013

My PDP Tenere arrived with 0 miles. 6 months latter my second one had 1 mile when delivered. Between the two purchases the dealer began putting 1 mile on their vehicles at the direction of the manufacturer. Pretty common to go to the dealer and see a service guy riding a new bike or atv around and around the parking lot.
