When was the change have taken place? My last rear went 18k kms. I don't know when that tire was manufactured though. Never thought to look at the date on the tire.

I also got 18,000 miles and could've gone farther but it was too squared off.

Wouldn't be surprised if they changed compounds, as the #1 complaint has been traction, especially in rain. Softer rubber would help.

I replaced my front at 16,000 miles. It would have went farther but it cupping due to me running it on trip with low tire pressure. Same here. Checks, I replaced my rear tire after 15,000 miles. It wasn't down to the wear bars yet, but was getting a little squirely in corners due to squaring.

I have gone through two sets of Heidenaus and each rear was squared off to the point where I changed them out after about 16,000 kms (10,000 miles). The fronts were still in good shape and I could probably have run two rears for each front, but I am conservative and changed out both front and rear at the same time. I am now running Mitas E-07 Dakars and have no noticeable squaring off of the rear after 12,000 kms. The rear Mitas is narrower than the Heidenau and, of course, the sidewall on the Mitas Dakar is a lot more rigid. The Mitas has performed well on and off road, wet or dry, although nothing works well in the mud! Cheers, David

I was putting my bike away for the winter today and took note of the wear on the Mitas E07s. They have 20,000kms (12,000 miles) on them and are at the end of their life. I haven't noticed any squaring off or bad handling characteristics. I liked these so much, I've got my brand new set ready to put on over the winter. Cant wait to see where they will take me next year!! ::26::
