OK. I believe this is gonna sound like a goofy question, but.... When I have my Giant loop bag or any other stuff on the bike, I cant get my short legs over it and end up using the side stand to dis-mount and normally the center stand to remount. So..... I was thinking about all the other S10's out there with all the gear loaded on them. How do you do it???

There is no wrong way, just what works for you.

Mounting - side or center stand the same way. I typically leave it on the center stand in the garage, but side stand when parking during a ride. Left foot on the rider peg, step up and swing the right leg over.

Dismounting - Usually just move the left foot out from the bike a bit and slide the right leg over the seat as I move off, holding lightly to the handlebar to aid balance.

Mount and dismount same as a horse....left foot on left peg.....step up swing the leg over, dismount is the reverse....Definitely more difficult with a loaded bike....gotta swing the leg out to its limit....getting more difficult with age. :'(

Re: Mounting and dis-mounting question

Actually, I had to face the same problem recently. The best way I found to do it is to:
1: bike on the side stand, stay on the left side
2: left hand on the left side of the handlebar (to keep your balance and avoid tipping over the bike)
3: throw the right leg straight over the saddle (you can use your right hand to help the knee to go high enough)
4: slide the leg over the seat and triumphantly put your delicate bottom on it. ::012::

One important thing that has not been mentioned...Because of the wild swing of the right leg, getting it up and over the top case...Be sure that you don't kick anyone in the HEAD!!!

When riding with my wife, I always announce "Watch you head!" when mounting.

That's why I always get on first, then have her climb up behind me!

But, what if she's standing right by the bike, waiting her turn to get on, and looking the other way? Are you gonna claim it wasn't you that kicked her in the face? Of course, I don't know your relationship. Some women need a good kick to the head every now and then... ::) Wasn't me.

Re: Mounting and dis-mounting question

A buddy of mine, who is altitudinally challenged, AND owns a Harley (poor beggar), has an interesting mounting style.

He approaches from the left, bike on side stand, basically turns his back to the bike, lifts his right leg behind him and shoots it straight over the seat as he augers it clockwise. He basically "screws" himself on to the bike. He doesn't have to lift his leg any higher than the seat height. Seems to work pretty well for him. Worth a shot. R ::015:: ::008::

I have seen the above 'style' used before, it works but looks really odd. I have long legs, no drama.

i think most Harleys have a seat height of about 26 inches. Much easier to mount/dismount than the Tenere.

Re: Mounting and dis-mounting question

seen a short round girl mount a fully loaded Hardley from the right side, looked odd, but worked
sometimes I stand on the left peg, grab the left handle bar and put my right leg over
