That may turn out to have been a bargain...
I have done it several times, should take less than an hour. The fuel pump R&R is a little tricky as there is a little tab type thingy that you have to depress slightly to get it in and out. Filler cap is simple, 3 screws for the cap and a small locating screw in the flange. Pay attention to how the left side panel comes off, though. Take pics as you disassemble the original one so that you get all the pieces back as they came out.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. It WAS quite a job for a novice like me. Took the better part of the day from 11 to about 5pm. But, I did get distracted a lot and took it very slowly, not having any clue how the tank pivots up. If I did it again, it would be much simpler and quicker. I also got sidetracked on installing the longer front brake line from Jaxon. It was somewhat easier with the tank off, but still took some time. (Had already done the clutch line.)

The results are well worth the effort. I absolutely love the yellow.
I hope it does not make the bike worth less when I go to trade it in 2 years or so from now. Perhaps I should store the red parts for future trade in value????
I don't think I would ever go back to the red, but that is just me. I had a 2005 Ford Yellow truck and really liked that also. But, eventually got tired of the yellow. So who knows???

I like the yellow a lot, but I think you're gonna have to lose the red stripe on the exhaust cover ? A bit of yellow pinstripe would do the trick and complete 'the look' ::008::

I really like the red, but yellow too, as for re-sale value, I would not worry too much about that, the dealer will probably kick you in the nuts no matter what colour it was, but now they have a small get out / excuse....

Oh shucks. OMG..... Was holding my breath, hoping DD would not notice the red stripes in the finished picture, and then 2112 chimed in and kicked my butt!
Oh well, I want it to look right. Am actually thinking of the gloss black front fender to REALLY make it correct. :D

How about selling the red? I'm a little dreary of the gray of my 2014!

I must be a slow thinker. OF COURSE!!!! I have the Givi Outback Trekkers, racks already mounted. The side cases should cover the tiny bit of red.
Thank you, thank you Ramseybella ::013::

Am actually thinking about whether to sell the red or not......
However, if i do sell, i think would have to do so locally. Seems it would be risky shipping brand new looking piece like the tank. I do have the box the yellow came in from the dealer, but i wonder how easily it could get dinged???

Pack it stuff paper around it and insure the hell out of it!!
It's easy, FedEx is the cheaper bunch but with UPS they are a little more stand up on insurance claims.
If you ever watched a UPS hub in action you would know why.
But never had issues with FedEx, sign up on line for a FedEx account it's free and saves you a bit extra money and you can print your own labels.

I didn't have the heart to say anything about it.

Truth is I didn't focus on it. If I'm really honest I'd admit I didn't even notice it. Don't take too much from that. Dirt Mom would be happy to tell you I'm oblivious to most stuff. I think the bike looks pretty damn good.

Thanks! Well, I have actually ordered the yellow stripes to replace or cover the red stripes. I did not think it was a big deal, but might as well make it all good. Interestingly, there is no yellow stripe available for the right side, as a 2016 Anniversary (Non ES) bike does not have a stripe on the right. Ordered 2 of the left version and hope to adapt one of them to the wrong side. The bend is different, so it will be a little tricky but I think doable.

The side cases did not fully hide the red. Got to get it right!!!!
Still thinking of the gloss black front fender. It is only about 100$......

What kind of seat is that? I like the back rest. Does it affect the passenger at all?

Seat is a Russell Day Long.
The backrest does take up at least a couple inches of the available space between rider and passenger.
However, it slides right out for removal, which is what we do for 2 up......
It tilts forward for passenger access to seat also.

I'm not sure a gloss fender would work as the side panels of the fairing match the existing fender ?
