Good luck with the sale! A riding buddy of mne in Aurora just turned over 100K on his '03 and is tearing it down to install a long list of new components this winter.

Make sure you post some pics of your SuperT when you get it!

Re: Honda ST1300 for Sale

My Honda is a great bike, fast, great gas mileage, smooth. I just don't want TWO bikes. I think the Tenere will be best of both. Probably won't do to much off road, but we will wait and see. I don't think I will have any regrets with the Tenere over the St1300

Re: Honda ST1300 for Sale

I sold my new ST 1300 for my Tenere. Be sure of one thing, do not expect the Yamaha engine to be any where as smooth as the Honda. My 1300 was the smoothest bike that I owned hands down. Saying that though, I like all other aspects of the tenere over the Honda. The brakes, suspension, traction control, on the fly mode change, seating, ease of maintenance, tires, spoke rims all contribute to me really liking this bike better. I never new I needed traction control, but got a chance to find out how it really worked.

::026:: to all that. I still have my ST1300, but will likely sell it next summer. It IS an awesome smooth bike. Sounds like a sewing machine on steroids. But as Clem says, I think the Tenere has it beat except maybe for the electric windshield. Oh, Mamma. Hard cheese. I think the Tenere will serve me well. R

Re: Honda ST1300 for Sale

I am going to TRY ebay soon. My dealer said he would treat me well on a trade. Not really sure i'm gonna get much more $ if I wait until spring to sell the Honda. I really am tired of being a lurker on this site. I kept thinking about Tiger800xc. Decided against it mostly because no dealers, chain, bad mileage, Yamaha is just BETTER. thanks for all your comments. tim

I haven't experienced this first hand, but reports from those who have fitted the Arrow, Akra PC/AT combo are that the engine smoothness is pretty darn close to that of the ST1300. These are reports from previous owners of the ST1300.

That's the second time I've heard that from an American owner. On my SA spec bike, the modes will not change unless I'm completely stopped. I wonder why yamaha made that different for the US spec bikes. :-\

Re: Honda ST1300 for Sale

Tremor, are you saying that you can't change from T to S and back while riding? We can do that with US bikes and only have to stop to change TCS modes.

BTW, I just noticed that this is my 1,000th post. Rem, are you in charge of sending money to those that reach 1,000 posts? ;D

I'm pretty sure you have to pull the clutch in before you make the change. At least that's how I've been doing it, have not tried it without..

Yup, can't switch between S and T while in motion. I will try what Japako said about squeezing the clutch lever though.

On the US bikes all you have to do is toggle the switch and then close the throttle, no clutch required.

Re: Honda ST1300 for Sale

Swapping modes is as easy as;

1. close throttle,

2. Flip drive mode switch on handlebar,

3. ride in new mode.

TCS does require you to be stationary.

Re: Honda ST1300 for Sale

I won't be getting rid of my ST1300 that's for sure. When I get on the ST1300 I remember the things it does better than the Tenere and when I get on the Tenere I remember the things it does better than the ST1300.. it's like having two different bikes. Yes, the Tenere can do pretty much everything the ST1300 can and more with the only exception being range and smoothness however the ST1300 can't do the gravel/dirt roads nearly as well and it gets expensive quick when you start dropping it.. LOL

Good luck on the sale, do you have it listed on ST-Owners.com?

Oh well...I've tried it with the throttle closed. Now if someone with an SA bike chimes in and says they can change modes, I'll definitely have to investigate further.

Maybe that is true, I have not done those mods to my Tenere, but I have 5,000 mile ride experience on both. The tenere is a tractor compared to the ST. It is not even in the same league as the V four engine of Honda. The smoothness of the ST1300 far outshines the Tenere. I am hoping for 150K miles on the Tenere, I am certain the Honda would have done that. My bike sounds like bolts rattling around or diesel tractor. Over the past 35 years, I can't say that I have ever owned an engine that sounds anything like the Tenere... but I still love it.

Mellow, I do have it listed on ST-Owners. You answered questions for me before about owning both bikes. Thanks again.
