New owner in MN here.
Just picked up a new 2012 raven and while I've been too busy with work to put many miles on during the first week of ownership I plan on finishing up my break in miles over the Labor Day weekend.
I just came off a KTM 950 Adv and in my very limited S10 saddle time am quite happy with my choice. Really looking forward to an oil change that doesn't require removal of a gas tank, draining two oil tanks, cleaning two screens and the paper filter not to mention never hearing the snap of a failing starter clutch again. Overall I really loved that bike as it was bloody fast when the pavement went away but I will settle for nearly bloody fast and no drama.

I got a great deal on a raven and bought the full length YES warranty as I plan on hanging onto this one for a while.
With all the money I saved on a 2012 I had plenty to outfit it with exactly what I want with parts starting to arrive tomorrow.

Just poking around here I've already learned a TON so thanks to all of you. I haven't played with the two mappings much but already know what I need to do after break in if I feel the need for speed. The clutch switch mod is just crazy that it'd be that simple to unlock gears 1-3 and as someone who has played with maps and flashes on other bikes the Flash-Tune product looks like it'd keep me entertained indefinitely.

Cheers!
Pete

Welcome!

Yea, I still got a 06 LC8 powered bike.
Although oil changes on the SM are easier than the Adventure, the Super Tenere is a picnic! But not just for oil changes.

You just ride this thing. And put tires on it and ride this thing. And put more tires on it and ride........

Oh, and although while she is new and you are happy, I assure you that when you start to miss that KTM power hit, a good clean ECU map will fill your cup back up.

Don't forget to keep that chain clean, lubed, and tight. (Not :) )

I think you're spot on with that comment. I really love the way that carb'd 950 went with a sense of urgency, the GO! graphics are just perfect for that bike.

I had a 640 ADV before the 950 so I've had two of the stranger oil change bikes I've heard of ;D

Greetings from Texas! Enjoy the ride. It will continue to get better. The bike really smooths out around 5 to 8K miles.

Welcome on, PMC. A hearty congratulations on the new bike. I think you will find it most satisfactory. And even mighty fine. ::004:: to the Forum. R. ::022::
