Some pics of a bracket I made, 1' and 3/4 tube but the final one would be all 1", I tried to lean the bike on its side and the peg (up position) touches the ground before the crash bars.

I really liked them there, but I don't want to damage the engine with the brackets/pegs if I was to drop it. Have to think of something different.

Nice try! You'll figure it out. Necessity is the mother of all invention.

I'm working on some brackets... I'll try to post a pic. Where did you get the peg? Looks good.

Here is a pic of the right side. Still needs some final tweaks and PC.

I ordered my from a local dual sport bike shop, this is what I got.
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/imagecatalogue/imageview/12122/?RefererURL=/trade/productview/4665/757/ and
http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/4662

I only needed the pegs and this footpeg joint http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/4666 total $117.50, I think I paid $160.00-$170.00

Good luck with yours.

Cheap clamp on type but work well.
Nice and simple when you have the OEM engine guard, I really need one for my right leg, I mean my half leg :-\ :), I can't have my knee overly bent for too long, but I think I'll just make one more for the other leg. :D

Nice, you can change to a different lengths on your trips. When you make the left side it'll have to come out a bit more to clear the engine.

I finished the left side today. It is behind the radiator rubber mount. Both sides are pretty much the same from the center of the engine.

You mean it wouldn't go more than 40mph and handled like a sack of wet s**t? :-\ ??? ::)
Thats funny. No, what I meant was it felt lke a super sofisticated cruiser ;D .

They are 13" 1/2 from the floor and 17" forward from the center of the original pegs; also wanted to make sure that if I lean far enough on corners, the original pege hit the ground first when the highway pegs are folded up (the solid part). Like the OEM engine guards, the pipe up front really helps stiffen things up, I stiil have the option of cutting it off or lower it a bit more for better support,. Now they are powder coated and I'm not touching it, if i do, it wont be until the next hibernating season.

I hadn't riden the bike for a couple of weekes, as I was building the pegs support and instaling the Altrider engine plate for the first time. I was wondering if the tube at the front and the thick 3/16 of an inch Altrider brace plate at the bottom was going to make any vibration diference; sure enough wile I was riding it I thought it was vibrating a bit more around 4500 RPM; I hope it's just a brain thing. :)
