Hi folks. I've read all the High Idle posts on here. I've changed sparkies, no difference)..checked throttle cables (fine), checked all connectors (fine), checked the EMI?? problem (electro magnetic interference issue as posted about on here).
Still having problems. I'm very reluctant to go to a dealer because (like others on here) I reckon they'll spend hours trying to sort it, draw a blank, and give me a huge bill that I cant afford right now or worse still they'll start changing bits that dont need changing.
I'm really out of ideas now though so any help would be much appreciated. Bike is a 2011 with about 58k on it. Symptoms are high idle at start up (hot or cold)..revs at about 4,000 and then it settles down after a long run. Thanks in advance for any help/ideas.

Did you really take apart every electrical connection on the bike? Checked every ground? I thought I had, but I hadn't bothered to go pulling apart connections under the side cover. You've likely read my posts so you can see my symptoms mirrored yours and that even though they got progressively worse, I finally fixed it to have zero return of the problem.

And while you are checking for vacuum leaks around the Throttle Bodies... replace the vacuum caps.

On the left throttle body there is a small tube to a black sensor. Check that tube carefully, and replace if nessasary. I've messed with it before and any leak or is sure will cause high idle or erratic idle. Just another idea-

Thanks folks. Really appreciate your help. There are a couple of things I haven't done there (vacuum leaks) so I'll have another check and let you know. Cheers!

wasn't there also a full throttle blip to sort the the fly by wire ? I can't remember the detail, something I was trying to remember this morning - coincidentally.

Use water to check for vacuum leaks. Water will temporarily seal the leak.

Or get sucked in and change the idle.

Hope u recover soon. Something to investigate on the TB butterfly valves, to see if they are actually fully closed with off throttle.

My 13 did something like that once after a cold start on a cold morning, I took off imeadiatly without letting it warm up at all, 2 miles later at the first stop sign it was still on fast idle when I stopped, next stop sign 3 miles later it idled normal. Never did it again but I usually let it idle a minute or two before taking off.

Thanks cycledude. Pretty sure mine is a different scenario but thanks anyway. Forgot to say folks (in case it helps anyone to advice me)...since all this started I am unable to switch between T&S modes. Cheers

Thanks Dogdaze. I'll read that thread. I dont think it's connected to the high idle problem but I'd still like to sort the T&S mode anyway. Cheers!

Hello stutrump, I've solved mine by wrapping the stator cable in electrical tape and making more space between that cable and the accelerator and TPS ones. The job was done in a very similar way to nimbus fix. They are located at the front of the throttle bodies and above the ingnition coils. That stator cable (tan couloured) generates a lot of impedance due to the current it carries, and without a proper insulating it can cause high idle (2500-4500 RPM), stalls even at constant speed, error code 60 (since the YCCT cables are affected its impossible to switch drive modes S & T), bad fueling and hot engine/exhaust temperatures.
In a Nimbus post there are photos of how to do the job, its simple and not more than 10$.
The bike has a lot of electrical components and some of them apparently not correctly insulated to avoid EMIs, give this a chance!

Hi Fedev2.
Thanks for your help. Still struggling to spend time in the garage but before my knee op I did investigate re Nimbus posts. He mentioned that when leaning on those wires his bike would cut out. Mine did not so I figured the EMI problem wasnt the cause of my problem. Maybe I should look into that again though. Need to get a stool and a helper in the garage!! Thanks for your help. More soon.
