Hello one and all
I pick up my Super Tenere on Friday after test riding it today. It's a matt grey, late 2012 model with less than 2,800 miles on it. Who are these people that pay all that money for a bike from new and then don't use it?
I'm a mod on a model specific, US-based Triumph forum so I know we newbies will post asking stuff without researching it first
And of course, we also ask questions which have already been done to death previously in maaaany threads asking the same thing time and again - I'll try not to disappoint!
Anyway, I come to the Tenere after several modern Triumphs (Bonneville, Bonneville America, Scrambler, Sprint ST, Rocket III). I have been lucky to have been able to have more than one bike at a time and I finished lately with the Bonneville America of 10 years and a Rocket III for the last 5+ years. Most recently, and my trade-in for the Tenere, a BMW K1200GT SE.
The Beema is very very nice but I could see a very $£$£$£$ bike (new ABS pump just cost the dealer I bought it from £1,300+ to replace and 5 weeks away from me) ???
I know modern bikes cost money to repair but I don't like repair bills in that neighbourhood.
Ironically, the Yamaha dealer I bought the Tenere from was the same guy I bought the BMW off 3 months ago. I got a good price trade-in so off it bloody well goes.
So, I loved the test ride, albeit only about 20 miles (you can just tell when you like something, right?) and I can't wait for noon on Friday to roll round.
I'll be in WI at the end of June for a Triumph meet and it would be nice to ship the Tenere out there. A friend is loaning a couple of us his spare bikes but I don't like riding other people's bikes.
We'll be playing around Lake Superior for a few days after the Triumph rally 8)
Hopefully I'll be chiming in on here from time to time if you'll have me.
Be lucky
