Hi everyone,

I only started riding 5-6 years or so, but I did struggle finding a tourer that I could get comfortable on. I’ve been through a Yamaha TDM900, Africa Twin & Honda Crosstourer none of which really seemed to suit me ( 6ft 2” and 110kg might have something to do with it!). Had the S10 about 3 years now and it’s soo comfortable and easy to ride, love it. Thanks to all that contribute to the forum, some fantastic hints, tips and insights here.

Ride safe!

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the welcome. Nice to hear you’ve had your bike so long and are still very happy with it. I do sometimes idly look at alternatives but the extras they have I don’t want, and they just never seem to ride as nicely. I can’t see me parting ways with the S10 any time soon . I’m in East Anglia, nice big skies but a definite lack of hills and twisties…!

Hello and welcome shaggy, I’m another Welsh S10 owner, I hve owned mine for 5 years and yes, I do occasionally think I’d like a change but when I ride my bike, I just wonder what I’ve been thinking!
I was over your way a couple of months ago on my bike, around the Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth area, definitely not many hills around there!

Hello from Australia.
Trigger Warning: I’m a huge fan of the TDM and have two of them

I had many happy childhood holidays in Lowestoft, but I confess I haven’t been back there for many many years!

I sometimes regret selling my TDM, it didn’t suit me as a tourer, but it was a great commuter/sunny weekend bike. At the time the garage was only big enough for one bike, so it had to go

As it’s the S10 forum I should post a picture of that too!

This is where the history lesson comes in as the S10 wouldn’t exist without the TDM.

The TRX850 was the starting point with became the TDM900 with a 180 degree crank. When they changed it to become the 270 degree is when it came into its own. The new Triumph bikes are made on the same platform although they were down in power and torque when they came back.

I love the TDM for what it is and, when tuned, will outperform many of the super racers in the twisties (rider skill depending, of course).

The S10 really caught my attention when it came out as I wondered how well the motor would fit in a TDM… small bike with big motor….

It’s a shame that the lineage seems to have ended with the S10 it would be interesting to see what the next evolution would have been. As for putting a big motor in a small bike, my other bike is an Indian FTR, so I can vouch for it being a good idea :)
