A few weeks ago about 600 miles into an IB2000 ride, my 1984 R100RS blew up the right cylinder in Indiana. After reluctantly riding cupcake for the long trek back to NC and also paying for the RS’ transportation back, I decided I need something modern. I now find myself with a 2012 Super Tenere. Someone put a lot of money in it before letting it go. I’ve had it a weekend have loved the first 500 miles I could find time for.
Just wanted to say hi y’all and I’ll get back to lurking and reading the amazing amount of info on the board.

Congratulations on the new bike ! Yes it looks like the previous owner invested a lot of extra money, it ever has a new paint job !

Another (transplanted) North Carolinian here, with 81,000 trouble free miles on a 2014 Super Tenere. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome from Texas. It might not be a re-paint. All the yellow may have come off of a donor bike. Still, looks good. She might be modern compared to your '84, but, she is definitely not high tech. And, yeah, mileage isn't gonna be an issue. Plenty of examples here.
