Just joined the forum, haven't bought an S10 or a T7 yet, been riding bikes for over 30 years, looking for a touring adventure bike so that's why the S10 interests me with the shaft drive, not excited about spoked wheels though, the T7 is interesting because of its low weight, ease of servicing, chain drive and narrow looking seat aren't appealing though,
so that's it, I won't go down the Bmw 1200gs route, too many horror stories with costly shaft drive failures.
Looking forward to reading through some old threads for info, thanks for letting me join the forum.

Intentions really are touring but I do a lot of single track and like to venture down some forest roads sometimes to see what's there, usually nothing!! currently on a vstrom 650 which is great and reliable but I have it a long time, I would like more power and the shaft drive would be great, T7 might not be an option really, I'll have to see and ride both bikes, I see some nice S10's for sale here.
You've put on 15k this year?

yes between december and may basically. winters a bit sketchy down here. the s10 is a brilliant long haul bike. 1000k days doable so it doesnt take long

Welcome, from Texas. Sounds like you know the pluses/minuses of each. You'll have to ride them to know which one for sure.

Is bréa an rud é an teanga a scríobh. I'm on my third Tenere and love them. I have never put anything in them except consumables, I have not gone north of Sligo with a number of years but before that a group of us had done The Mizen to Malin run for charity on numerous I can tell you that it is a long day when a large group is doing it and is probably longer now with The Wild Atlantic Way. A lot of tourists do this and as you know some of these guys are used to driving on the wrong (righthand) side of the road. ;):D

Great biking roads up here and endless wee single track roads, some of the most spectacular scenery in Ireland here too, not too many tourists here either.
I would like the S10 to venture down to the ferry in Rosslare and head her for France, the vstrom 650 might be a bit underpowered for crossing the continent though I know many have done it on that bike,
The shaft drive would be great for touring, bit fed up filling the scott oiler and the oil drips when you park up are annoying too, brilliant bike the little vstrom think I'll always keep it even as winter bike as it gets older.
I love it down round Kerry and west Cork, I tend to travel on the little roads as far away from the tour buses as I can, you are the man to ask so having had 3 S10's.
Who would be your local dealer down there? not many bike dealers up here except a few small second-hand outfits, you have to Dublin or Belfast up here to find a big bike shop,
did you ever take the ferry from Cork to Spain?

Saw my very first 700 Tenere in real life last month at a dealer in Canada, I believe the seat height is even taller than the 1200 Tenere seat . Even though the 700 seat is very narrow I couldn’t reach the ground comfortably with both feet. No cruise control pretty much rules out the 700 Tenere for me.

The main dealers down this side are Ross Motorcycles, Lee Honda, and JT motorcycles. Forget Ross Motorcycles, Was the dealer of choice at one time but now does twist and go and smaller machines. Lee Motorcycles are a main Honda and Triumph dealer . Usually have a good selection of used motorcycles and new. They have a Tenere ZE second hand at the moment. Since Covid their prices have risen for a lot of things but then which dealership hasnt. I have bought all my motorcycles over the past 25 years from JT Motorcycles in Kinsale. Has'nt got the flash showrooms but probably has the largest selection of used motorcycles from basket cases to slightly used. He is a main Yamaha Dealer but rarely carries new motorcycles. A great man to buy from and enjoys the haggle. Prices are reasonable.
I have used the Cork - Roscoff ferry on numerous occasions, again up to covid over the past 20 years.. It is very handy for us as we are only 30 to 40 mins from the port. We have gone as far South as Gibraltar and have done the Normandy Beaches , Also we have travelled to Germany, Belgium, Switzerland France and down to Tavullia (46) in Italy. Ferry sails fron Ringaskiddy at 1600 Irish Time and arrives in Roscoff at 0700 French Time. A very relaxing sailing.

Welcome from London, pulled the trigger recently and bought my first 1200. Have owned a mint super ten 750 and the 1200 is so planted in comparison. Heading to Spain and Morocco (hopefully) soon and will be interesting to see how it pans out. Bike grows on you everyday and really is very capable. Most of my riding is and will be on the roads so it’s perfect for me. I’m going with a mate who has a GS1200 so will be interesting to compare the bikes as we swap them back and forth.

If the S10 is as good as the friendliness on this forum it'll be a great bike no doubt, thanks for the welcome folks, the search continues. I have seen an S10 for sale not too far from me but it's a Gen1, think I'd prefer a Gen 2 with the updates. I haven't ruled out a T7 yet, but it might not be much different to what I have now.
