Greetings all, my first bike was a BSA Victor back when nobody would have called it vintage, my most recent one a "fifty shades" XT1200 I acquired this spring (and thanks to the forum member who came up with that moniker).
It all goes to say I sampled a few bikes in between, I know it takes me a few thousand KMs to form an opinion, and having just covered the first 10.000 with this one, my verdict is that it's probably the most pleasant, most
well-rounded bike I've ever had. It's shod with Pirelli Scorpions, so strictly road work. I thought I could never love a bike more than my 40 yr old - 300.000+ KM Guzzi T3, but that one is now in great danger of becoming my
garage's "sleeping beauty". I do have one issue with the clutch, which I'll bring up shortly in the appropriate thread, and look forward to the collective knowledge here. Keep on truckin' ;-)

Welcome from Texas. I have an '86 FJ. I love the "sleeping beauty" moniker. Describes mine perfectly since I got my Tenere.

Thanks all for the welcome, and a special "howdy" to Sierra1 from Joshua.
I discovered the US by coming to Fort Worth in the late 70s as a student. A nice Texan family invited me to my first ever Thanksgiving turkey dinner.
When the bird was brought in, my eyes opened wide and I inquired in my very basic English, "Ooh, Texas chicken !?". I was instantly adopted...

When was the last time you visited Ft. Worth? It's changing almost monthly. And, not necessarily for the better.

1982. I consider myself lucky to have lived in the US in that period, when it was still completely iconic in European eyes. It's perhaps less so these days.
To be fair, I find myself changing almost monthly now, and not necessarily for the better...;)

'82 is when I moved to Texas. I've always like Ft. Worth better than Dallas. Whole different type of town.

Greetings from Minnesota!

BSA Victor? great looking bike but it shook the fillings out of my teeth and the kick back was it's own kind of excitement:eek:

Hello and welcome, teneleven! My previous gray '14 also carried the "fifty shades" moniker, the '21 is called "black bikes matter".
