KTM is the best advert that Yamaha has
Hello all, just got a SuperT last week (out of the box - lucky me). Have had 2 KTM's, the 950 Adv S and the 990 SM (supermotard for the uninformed). Both great bikes. Took the 1190 for a test and it was awesome too, but the staff at KTM seem to think that they are doing you a favour by selling their products, and there are hidden costs over the floor price (R160K for the R, but invoice is R163K - PDI and transport from JHB apparently). Services are more than double and backup is ..... well, I would rather break down on a Yammie.
Ended up going next door to Gavin at Helderberg Yamaha. What a difference. Service excellent, staff friendly and helpful, so bought the one in black standing on the floor.
So far so good, having done all of 150km to date, as CT started raining and I avoid wet and dark.
Oh, and my wife thinks that it is about as comfy as a lounge suite, so have a very happy pillion.
Couple of questions - anyone highly recommend a comms system for the helmets. I am going to be riding with a friend so need a conference facility, not one where you have to switch from pillion to other rider etc. The Cardo Systems G4 seems to be what I am looking for but not sure where to get it in Cape Town (or SA for that matter). Comments here would be most helpful.
Lastly, any other riders out there that want to do the close by touring thing (Cedarberg back roads, Montague etc.) as I would like to start off doing weekend stuff, not Trans Africa.
Hope that it all goes the way I am hoping.
