Just want to introduce myself.

Pete Lucchini 53 years old 6'3" I live in Santa Fe, NM been riding for over 30 years Dirt, Dual and street.
Recent bikes in last eight years was 1998 Triumph 900 (885) Tiger, 2003 Kawasaki ZRX 1200R, and recent last three years 2010 Triumph Tiger 1050 bought in new 2011 and was killed by a Volvo last Saturday with 46345 miles young R.I.P. :'(
So now I have been looking at the Tenere 1200 since it first came out but was a bit high for my budget, I figured I need to slow it a bit and have a tool to trail up the mountains my Tiger could not reach.
I do lots of miles and 98% camping Parks, Forestry off trail paths. Need to know the in's and outs of the bike from guy who ride them!
Owning Japanese bikes over the years Honda GL 1100 wing was one reliable beast, I realize exotic does not always mean savings. My 1050 never gave me issues but others have, so that always stuck in the back of my mind like Who in Montana can fix this?
This was my Girl>>

Welcome! A lot of the guys are in Ouray proving theirs at the moment, sure they'll chime in when they get back. I've had a few Triumphs and loved them all. I got the Tenere for a lot of reasons, one being dealership availability. Haven't needed to use one yet but nice to know they're there.

Ouray, Co is my short ride for relaxing and camping out, was at the Amphitheater Campground three weekends ago with a friend.
My plan before this crash was Montana Glacier National Park end of July. :(

Hi Pete and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find a lot of good information here. I spent a great deal of time here before my purchase as well. The thing that struck me is the general reliability of the bike. Sure many customize the bike to their liking but it is really a very solid bike off the floor. Good luck with your research.

Thats what I am looking for, My Triumph never gave me an issue except the Shifter Linkage would unscrew itself and snap off from time to time. This happened to me in Ouray 5:00 lucky the camp keeper (Jerry) had a drill and bits two old Harley Rat riders had a hand full of Zip ties, I had Red Loctite and three threads left of the screw to play with.
It all worked out and I got back home to Santa Fe.
I love exotic rides but I don't have the cash or time to fool with tid bit issues, Japanese bikes in my experience are bomb proof and reliable 98% of the time.
The ST is a twin so I should feel close to home with grunt.

Thanks Guys!!
I am Eyeballing one on Colorado Craigslist 2012 2400 miles with all the Extras.
I figure by the time my insurance company decides what to do it will be gone, but one never knows with the economy being FUBAR it may be a simple twist of fate?

I have noticed some of you talking about vibration issues with the clutch basket and such, Owning a triple I know how the sleepy hand feels so I am familiar with vibration. How are the newer models fairing?

Hello RB -
sit down read a spell and let us tell you how much we love our Supa10's.

Best bike I've owned so far - most comfortable and trouble free.

Even the farkling is easy on this thing.

Enjoy your adventure --

My previous 2 bikes were an Aprilia Futura and a BMW K1200s. In terms of vibrations in the hands, I would rate this one as good or better than those two. Having said that, I'm not overly bothered in general with vibration. HTH

Well the Tiger was totaled by insurance getting $8.500 back to play with and another $6.500 to back it up will be on the hunt for my Terene soon.

I need to call my guy in Colorado and see if he still has it.
