I have been lurking on this site for about a year gathering info on the new Tenere. Trying to decide whether the bike was worth the expense as I was already in possession of two great bikes. An 08 KLR and an 86 Concours (very well maintained and upgraded). I could not find any significant negative comments on the bike and a recent trip across Canada and back (through the US) put me over the edge. There were so many dirt side roads that I wanted to hit, but bypassed because of the Concours. It would have done many of them but not comfortably. So there it is, a bike that can tour (with my wife also), take me on less traveled paths and probably still as fast as the Concours. The all in one bike. I pick up a black one on Tuesday.

I have always done all the maintenance on my past bikes but I have to say I am a bit nervous about this one as I have no idea about power commanders and such. Lots of reading here to be done.

Many thanks for those of you that post info.

Greetings and a warm welcome from the far north. Lots of places to ride in your neck of the woods. Are you north or south?

If you've done maintenance on prior bikes you'll probably find this one fairly intuitive, plus there are lots of knowledgeable folks on here to help. Not sure I've seen many PC-V installs but there are some around here.

Thanks all.
I am from the Guelph area which is way south of you REM. I would imagine your close to end of season riding. Probably 4 weeks left here in Southern Ontario. Your comment about "lots of places to ride in my neck of the woods" hits the nail on the head. It is the reason I got the KLR in the first place. I have been riding these paved roads for 35 years. If you open up the dirt roads to travel then the choice of destination is exponential in Ontario.
I think the Tenere gives me so much more choice without having to switch bikes all the time.

48 hours left till delivery. ::012::

I'm itching to get across that Northern border at least one more time this year. At the moment, I've got a looming deadline for a rather large project. I can't afford to take a week off to wander around Vancouver Island or Banff until after Nov 1st.

Hey Digitalmoto
I see your from Oregon. My son and I were thru there this summer and I again (motorcycled there many years ago) decided it was one of the most beautiful states to ride in. Crater Lake is awesome. No offense to the rest of you as there are many great states to ride in and I have ridden most of them.
It has been a while since being in Banff in late summer but I cant imagine you will do much riding in November. Better get there quick.
