There are two options. 1) Keep riding (as much as possible) and become used to it. Bumper to bumper city driving is the best, for getting used to the clutch & gas. Won't take very long. 2) Have the ECU flashed. Many on here have done so and swear by it. Smooths out the throttle response.

I'm an option 1 guy. I love the throttle response as is. But you do have options.
Or maybe a stronger spring to tell when the throttle slack is taken up.

I don't see how a weaker/stronger spring would affect how I twist the throttle.

The difference between a slack cable and where it starts actuate the whatever it actuates may be easier felt with stronger resistance. I've been taking up the slack though so that is not such an issue any more. I think it is coordinating the movement of my wrist with what I'm expecting to happen and we are getting closer.

Got the moskomoto pannier system installed, using the same on the DR650 so they can be used on either. With that, and the crash bars and skid plate from T rex I have yet to install, the bike is getting up there in weight, I figure to call her a 650#er. Good thing she's got the grunt to get it moving. Still a happy camper.

Here's my panniers on the ST. Using the moskomoto system with their large bags. I'm using the same attaching system with the igloo coolers. The coolers look big in the pic but they are really just the right size. Grocery sacks fit inside them perfectly, I think they were 31 liters. I really am spoiled with the top opening setup. I have no desire for the knee high side opening bags used on any of the touring bikes. I may paint the coolers to match or contrast for visibility, just haven't decided yet.
