First of all, what a great member forum here! I have been lurking since January and reading all that is the Super Tenere. Currently own a 2012 KLR and of course have farkled that crap out of it! 8). Previously came from a BMW R1200RT Cam head. Once I got the KLR and dabbled off road, I knew that the BMW would be sold to get a long distance 2 up capable touring machine, that can go off road. I was for 20+ years a street rider even though I learned on dirt in my teens.
I looked at the Triumph 1200, Ducati, passed on the BMW as I already owned a BMW. Eventually settled on the Yamaha(bike #9) as it ticked all the right boxes for me.
I had ordered my very first Yamaha in early February and it finally arrived 2 days ago to my front driveway!

Now I'm not going to be crazy on this bike like some of you good folks who think this is a 250cc dirt bike, but gravel and fire trails will be the ticket and a good heap of tarmac. That and the bones aren't as flexible as they used to be. ::014:: I'm middle aged, short 5'7", 170 lb, balding so that should give you a perspective ::007::

Here she is in mostly stock glory:

Let the farkling begin! :p I think that the farkling is very strong tendency here, maybe even more so than the KLR so the wallet will get lighter :'(
Had the dealer put in the OEM heated grips, Heidenau K60 Scouts, PIAA 530 LED driving lights, and twisted throttle fuzeblock. I did the worldcrosser decal pack(most of it), starting install of Jesse luggage(where are the instructions on this expensive package arggghhh!----finally got the panniers on), Madstad bracket with GPS mount, OEM Yamaha wind wings, Super T tank protector, OEM Yamaha headlight protector. I have yet to install the Altrider skidplate and crash bars.

Can you tell we have a looong winter! ::010::

Here's hoping to learn more from this forum and maybe meet up with one or more of you in the future.

Welcome aboard and greetings from the D.C. area! Yep, farkling is kind of a tradition/addiction it seems. I, of course, abstain ... NOT :)

5'7"? Have you looked into lowering links yet?
Seat on high, I don't flat foot this beast at 6'2" 300#.

Lowering links...what's that? ;D Just kidding. I have found there are other options, like lower seats, higher soled boots (actually have the Daytona M-Star GTX boots on order, look them up). For my tastes and riding a KLR with a supposed 35" seat height, I have had no issues. I really can't remember when I could flat foot any bike...wait actually I could flat foot my V30 Magna and V45 Magna cruisers.
In actuality, I can touch the ground with the balls of both my feet or one foot flat with just a small adjustment to either side of the stock seat with it in low position. Sometimes more adipose/muscle tissue can be a disadvantage too, around the thigh area for reach to the ground... O:)
