Only in Colorado, when we rode Cinnamon Pass. Other than that, the hard packed desert roads I ride here in Arizona don't usually require it. I have yet to find a really sandy section however, which would have me airing down.VgnSTRider87 said:Thanks! Do you air down for off road?
sail2xxs said:I ran K-60s on my 2012 - 33 psi front, 42/43 psi rear, and consistently got at least 22K miles out of a set (and one set just shy of 30K miles), with a substantial amount of commuting and highway mileage. The rear did tend to square off around the 10K mark, and then would seem to stop wearing appreciably for the next 8k miles or so.
Chris's mileage is like very few others. In the WORLD!78YZ said:That is amazing mileage. Given that history, I would be reluctant to change. Do you ride off-road at all?
My 2012 was off-road at least one or two days a month - nothing like the kind of time some of the other guys here like Dirt Dad get, but that was more due to lack of time than preference. I love playing off road.78YZ said:That is amazing mileage. Given that history, I would be reluctant to change. Do you ride off-road at all?
Snake - I've slowed down a fair bit since getting married last November. I still have the 120 mile/day commute, but the 2 day, 2k+ weekend trips are a thing of the past. I love being on the bike, but spending time with my wife beats the bike every time. ;Dsnakebitten said:Chris's mileage is like very few others. In the WORLD!
I suspect he has fewer starts-stops per mile than 99.999% of all motorcyclists. He's the 2-wheel trucker amongst us.
::026:: That's great.snakebitten said:Congratulations!!!
Seriously, I mean it.
Don't worry about that. If you get stuck with those K60s we'll have plenty of people available to pull you out. ::013::sail2xxs said:DD - UPS is delivering K-60s today.... ;D
I think it should say 131 mph for the K-60s. At least in my experience it is a great, long-wearing tire.VictoryHammer2006 said:I was looking at the k60 scout. The available size is •Scout 150/70 B 17 M/C 69T TL (from their website). The 'b' in the tire size apparently is the speed rating, making it rated for us 31 MPH. Glad I checked this because was about to revzilla a set. if 31 mph is the rated safe speed my normal 80+/- can't be good for them.

Coming across this thread I was thinking the Mitas E07, but the Dakar is a good option.
interesting compare here: http://www.mx1canada.com/mitas-e07-dakar-rear-tire-150-70-17-tubeless.html
I think I'd like a 50/50 tire but losing confidence in alternatives to the stock Metz Tour which I think is an 80/20. So confusing.
go for the mitas. It will wear faster than the k60, but will have more grip on the wet, and easier to mount. No need to spend the extra cash on the dakar. The reg tire has been good for meVictoryHammer2006 said:I was looking at the k60 scout. The available size is •Scout 150/70 B 17 M/C 69T TL (from their website). I went for the Mitas Dakars, not easy to find here so I ordered. Paid US $300 for the set then another US $40 to mount. I'll write a quick review in another thread since this one is about a compare of the K60's which I never owned. How long a tire lasts is not the most important thing to me, which I keep reading is the + of the k60, though I hate tires that wear in 3000 miles like the 250 rear on my Victory (that's $1 per MM!).greg the pole said:go for the mitas. Welcome back, Tom. Been a while.thfraser said:But the wear bars just started showing up about a thousand miles ago! It still had some rubber thickness. I thought it might be thinner, but it wasn't. Tough tires.
