HEED crashbars have just started to make a set for the tenere they are made in poland and i ordered a set off ebay ..I had a set of givi ones on my last tenere but I think these are a better product , they give better cover and are a lot stronger ..l had a set of HEED crashbars on my 650 v strom and dropped the bike on a greasy ferry deck , they took all the force of the fall and only damage was very slight mark that I just covered with a spot of paint ....anyway ive just finished fitting them . They went on ok and the only down side ive found is there a bit tight on the throttle side making getting the sidepanel off to get to the tools and battery a bit fiddly ...

DaveSax36, I am glad you revived this thread. I have taken a close look at the build scheme and find it very strong in apperance.

I like the side tube wrap around. It appears that the tubes make four contact points on the engine plate, unlike the AltRider with only two points of contact.

I have not found the metal specs as of yet. I know it is metric, but I do not know if it is DOM or electron beam welded tube. The photos show the weld area, but I am not sure if the butt welded or angle cut and welded using the full diameter weld to the next tube.

Any information I may find will be posted.

Good Luck

had these engine bars on a while now and just reporting back ....they make no difference to the bike when its running [ no vibrations that you sometimes get with engine bars ] the paint seems to be standing up ok , no rusting or flaking . had the side panel off [ throttle side ] several times and as ive said its a bit tight but with a bit of fiddling its fine . more than happy with them .. :)

Has anyone seen these bars mounted with an ACD skid plate?
Altrider bars are still on backorder - due sometime between april and june ::007::

Heed bars are about $30 cheaper with seemingly more protection, but they may interfere with the skid plate

Am I reading this right? Where are you finding AltRider bars for $30.00 more than Heed? All the pricing I have found has been around $200.00 more for the AltRider, unless you get a deal like spam16v.

I was quoted $276, probably 15 for shipping. Although now that I look at the revzilla website, I think he may have quoted me the upper bars . Dang. I guess my price would be about 400 then.
Thanks though, at least I realized the mistake while they are still on backorder ::025::

I have the Heed bars since last May. They look nice and they look strong.

However, I had a 5mph right side crash and the Heed bar got pushed onto the overly expensive Worldcrosser side panel which cracked. It's like the bar just bounced back. I don't think it's sturdy enough.

I still use them, but I would not buy them again if I could do it all over.

Guess I'll be going with Altrider, as Heed responded to an email and said their bars wouldn't work with the ACD skid plate.
I like the stainless Altrider bars better anyway , as with my KTM950 the bars got beat up pretty good and had to be touched up constantly.
