Any of you guys that give some advice on heated grips it would be appreciated as I didnt opt for the factory fitted one when i bought the bike, although I know they can be retro fitted. I noticed that the R&G ones have a good write up in Ride magazine, any body tried them or is the usual Brit bike press BS? for £40 against £300+ for the Yam ones I thought they might be worth a punt?

cheers

+1 for Oxfords but i had to reinstall mine because the glue they supplied didnt hold when i cranked up the heat, the grips started rolling. Used renthal grip glue instead and saftey wired the grips, albeit very carefully. Will see if they hold this time.

I have used both on different bikes, one bike already had the R&G ones fitted by someone else,my other bike Street Triple I fitted the Oxfords,I would say the Oxford ones were slightly better in quality and heated quickly, but I was not sure if the R&g ones were fitted very good a bit intemitant.both seemed to do the Job though.

I've put Symtec heated element pads on my Ten as I did on my previous TDM. Means ya can reuse ya original 'perfect fit' grips. Found on my TDM the OEM grips were somewhat longer than all the heated grips I came across... Don't know if this applies to our bike as was just happy to purchase another set for the Ten. Been reliable, 2 heat settings n easy to fit for around 50 squid. Bob's ya uncle...

Another vote for Oxfords. I've fitted the Oxford grips five different times now on various bikes, and have never had an issue with them. The Oxford Adventure premium grips are the way to go for the Tenere, as the Adventure version matches the stock grip length. And like someone else said, do not use the super glue they supply. It will either set too quickly, which super glue does, and you won't get the grips on right before it's too late. Or it will crack later, as it's too brittle. Use grip glue, or a two part epoxy so you have some working time before it sets up. I've always used Devcon two part epoxy, and it works great.

I have been completely satisfied with my Oxford grips as well. They crank out an impressive amount of heat at a fraction of what the factory grips cost. ::008::

Cheers for the feedback guys, it looks like my money is going to Oxfords then for the Premium Adventure grips, just need to find out where to get some decent glue like this Devcon stuff now.

I fitted Oxford grips, but the controller failed after only one season. I replaced the controller with a LED dimmer switch( pulse width modulater (£4)) and its been working well for 2 years now. I posted a thread on it .

+1 on the Oxford Adventure Premium grips and for sticking them into place with hairspray. I sprayed some of my 17 year old daughters "ultra firm hold" product, onto both the inside the grips and onto the bar/throttle tube before fitting. It gave me enough time to adjust them into the correct position and after leaving it overnight, the were set firmly in place and smelled rather lovely too.
